Vintage Tone/ High Gain

Is there a pickup that has that rich vintage tone and balance and that can also be used with high gain?

I just bought a Les Paul, and I love a tone that is "classic rock" but also like to play with a lot of gain, from time to time.

Would the AlnicoII be the answer?

I play everything from country to nu-metalish stuff with my Pearly Gates loaded LP. The Demon, C5, and 59 in the bridge also fit that description.

The most versatile pickup I've encountered so far is the PAF Pro. My Pacifica has two of them, and while it's not my favorite for quasi-heavy riffing, it's definitely better than a lot of other stuff.

In all fairness, I was ONLY interested in super high gain when I tried most of the Duncan stuff, so I am definitely not arguing against them.

Re: Vintage Tone/ High Gain

yeah any of the PAF's should work

i actually like the sound of lower output humbuckers with a lot of gain more than i like high output humbuckers with a lot of gain

my gretsch has the lowest output humbuckers ever, like 4k, and it sounds awesome with a lot of gain

all my paf's are no different

i do, however, hate my cool rail

and the jb
