Vintage V52 tele

Does anyone have any experience with the Vintage V52 tele? I only saw one posting it wasn't only about the V52 so I thought I'd post again.

I've been looking for a tele and today on Musician's friend they had a 'stupid deal of the day' for the G&L tribute ASAT Classic with ash body. $299. Hard to beat that deal but I wanted to try it out before buying so I went to my local guitar store where I knew they had it. Well, they were out and I saw the Vintage V52. it was not set up properly so it was hard for me to tell, but it sounded really good. it's made by a company in the UK but in conjunction with Wilkinson. So all the hardware and pickups are made by Wilkinson.

the V52 was selling for $459 which is what I saw online as well. Although I did see a little cheaper on some sites.

G&L or Vintage? Hmmmm.

Thanks!

G&L.

Great build quality, even on their Indonesian instruments. Be aware, the G&L MFD pickups are loud and aggressive, but not really vintage sounding.

This deal of the day is a good one.

if you are after traditional vintage Telecaster tones, I'd hit that V52 in a heartbeat! 'Premier Guitar' gives them a excellent review, and this headless guitarist demonstrates the pretty damn good Tele sound they get;

I am looking for more of a vintage tele sound and look. So maybe the Vintage is the way to go.

Thanks.

The other thing that turned me off though of the Vintage was the tinted lacquer on the neck. The neck color and body color were almost the same. I've seen some pics on the internet where the neck isn't as tinted and also might be a satin finish versus high gloss which slows down my playing.

Yeah. I was just playing my stat and TeleJr. Both have gloss backs. The tele had no finish on the fingerboard which is really nice. The strat had gloss fingerboard but doesn't bother me at all. Possibly because it is older and the Vintage tele neck is new and maybe just needs some cleaning.

I don't know about the Vintage tele, but I have a Vintage v100 (their Les Paul model) and it is very good quality for the price. IMHO the pickups are better than Epi's in the same price range.
