Picking up a guitar with no inlays in the fretboard, considering purchasing vinyl decals from eBay designed to work as inlays.

Seeking outside opinions on the matter. So, let me know what you think.

Just make sure the ones you get are super thin. The ones from jockomo81 on eBay are great.

At the very least, needs some kind of bottle opener inlay at the 12th fret. :D

Re: Vinyl decal fret marker inlays; yay or nay?

Never seen that ^^ colourfullcaster before.

My mate purchased sticker inlays for all 6 of his guitars haha. I enjoy peeling corners up when he isn't looking :lmao:

Not a fan sorry.

Re: Vinyl decal fret marker inlays; yay or nay?

I'm old and easily confused by a fretboard without inlays. Not sure if I'd want vinyl decals though. I guess they'd be oaky if they didn't curl and peel off. How do they hold up to string bending? I use fretboard conditioner periodically, does that effect them staying on?

Re: Vinyl decal fret marker inlays; yay or nay?

I use conditioner on rosewood too, but not really often... I imaging using that after sticking them on would encourage them to start pealing off.

$7 on eBay though... Maybe be worth trying out as cheap as it is. I dunno. We'll see what the poll says.

Yea - I'm wearing them.. What's it to you? :lmao:

Sorry - couldn't resist...

FTR, I'm all for non-invasive customizations. You have the option of changing your mind later. I got a huge repair bill coming up for one of my teenage "customizations".

Just say no to stickers on fret boards!

Plus face dots are for sissies, use the side dots. :D

If you go by polls, people would tell you to sell the guitar and get a Strat or Les Paul.

All of these guitars have the inlay stickers from jockomo81 on them:

I moved from Michigan to Arizona, they're not peeling up, and that was quite a difference in humidity levels.

That's why I won't be asking any questions similar to that. I'm on the fence because it's a fairly cheap and reversible mod, so I'm looking for that input.

I'd punch you right in the throat if I saw you doing that.

Oh so tough man :notworthy only issue is you don't want your glasses getting broken. Good luck with that, haha! I wouldn't do it to anyone else only him. He deserves it.

I should clarify why i do it. He dropped my rare as gotoh wrc floyd rose onto cement and in the process a micro tuner bent. And of course you cant buy or find them anywhere so i taken the damages out on the stickers. haha

I'm for the vinyl is it manages to stay on well enough. I have to start thinking of doing something like that myself soon. I was wondering about doing a chemical bleach to the wood or something to lighten it in a design...
