Virtual paf compared to PG

I have a wolfgang special that currently has a virtual hot paf and PGn in it.
I was thinking of switching either the neck or bridge to match the other.
I was thinking of going with a PG bridge and neck or a virtual hot paf and virtual paf for the neck.
Anyone have experiance with these two sets that could give me info on them?
I have read what people say indivually about them but am looking for more of a direct comparison.

I don't have any experience with the PG, but I do have a VVPaf and VHPaf in my wolfgang special and I couldn't be happier. I found that this combo helps tame the brightness of the guitar and also helps the instrument breathe better (tonally). Keep in mind that this is just my experience and that what I hear and like maybe the opposite of what you hear and like. With that being said, trust your ears. If it sounds good to you, then it will probably sound good to others.

I have two Les Pauls, once with the PG set and one with the VHPaf/VPaf. They are both very cool. To my ears, the PG set has more vintage tones to it, more sizzle on the high end, but i find it to be warm vintage tones despite what some have claimed as brittle. What i like about them is they are even response, no accentuated mids, very balanced with a touch of presence and some rude/balls/ vintage sizzle mixed in. They work fine for clean, blues, southern rock and even zakk stuff if you have a hi gain amp and good technique. (they are not forgiving like a high-gain pickup, you have to play cleanly with gain and they will reward you with great tone.) When I play these, I hear GnR Appetite tones, old Neal Schon tones some ragged/early EVH, etc.

The VHPAF/VPAf combo is also quite nice. If you ask me, I think they are similar to the PG set in that they are a vintage hot pickup, no crazy peaks anywhere. They are a bit tighter in response to the PG's, so they are better with high gain IMO. However, they are also quite good clean too. These are great pickups overall, very hard to put the guitar down. They give you some of the CC and some of the C5, basically the pickup I have been searching for that Duncan does not currently offer tonally. When I play these, I hear Kiss Alive-Ace's best tone, EVH first record, Scorpions, etc.

In closing, I don't think you can go wrong with either set and a good tube amp. If you lean towards classic rock/blues, PG. If you lean towards harder rock- VHPAF.

Thanks for the info walt and notesfield, exactly what I was wanting to find out.
I think notesfield hit it on the head on the difference in sound.
I really like both pups but the each had a diff vibe just as you described.
Now if I had another wolf so I could have a set of each I would have it made.
