Viv Campbell sig LP..

Viv Campbell sig LP..

Wow! That does look awesome.
Supposedly the super 3makes a great neck pickup. I don’t have any experience with it so I can’t say for sure.
I have a Super Distortion/Bluesbucker combo I’m my LP and I’m loving it.

The pricing is way ridiculous though. Especially for a guy whose heyday was what? 30 years ago.
I know he is currently in Def Leppard but really he’s just a hired gun.

Re: Viv Campbell sig LP..

I would never buy a retail guitar from Sweetwater, you'll pay 30% to 40% more.

Then your "Sales Engineer" is going to call you on the phone for the next 6 years soliciting more Business.

Re: Viv Campbell sig LP..

super3 in the neck? never seen that before. id think it would be a mushy mess

Re: Viv Campbell sig LP..

Pretty guitar, but that price is silly. I can't imagine it would be a huge seller, especially since he was also identified with several other models over the years. I wonder what his cut is?

Re: Viv Campbell sig LP..

Funny cause Buddy Blaze just did the 25th anniv VC Shredder models, which are still not sold out...and now we have this...
These guitars arent for guys who play anyways, but more so collectors and super fans based on a price like that.

When I think of Vivian I think of his Jacksons and Charvels, his BC Rich ST-3, and his Swans. I know he played a black Les Paul early on prior to his Jacksons and Charvel and actually preferred that guitar over anything else, so idk... maybe if it was a copy of that guitar, but this doesnt say Vivian at all imo.

I wish this whole signature model stuff would just stop. Gibson is already having problems and this guitar isnt going to help them. Maybe if they made stuff people could afford and want, but hey whatever cause the used guitar market is booming and that’s where the action is.

Re: Viv Campbell sig LP..

Yet another epic Gibson fail.

This is a Les Paul Custom with a Super 3, a SuperD, and a trans black flame top. ESP makes these for 800 dollars.

And SOOOOOOOOtimely!!! Just out for the latest awesome Viv Campbell tones!!! If it came out in 1993-95....

Now? Meh. Just based on the guitar alone...which is kinda nice, I call it 2000 for cool top and DMZ's. $2500 max. If it were 1994....

Gibson are full on ****ing retards.

Re: Viv Campbell sig LP..

im still surprised by the super3 in the neck. i know the super2 in the neck can be cool but a 3? is this a real thing that people do? its a monster of a bridge pup

Real men do Jeremy.

I'm guessing he only uses it for lead in the neck position. That has always been my approach to super hot neck pups. YMMV

JB's, Distortions, etc...

Re: Viv Campbell sig LP..

The Distortion neck (Seymourizer II) is a hot neck pickup, but it certainly works, isn't muddy and pairs well with the Distortion bridge. Especially in a bright guitar with a floating bridge.

Yeah, the Super 3 is a great bridge pickup and I can't imagine it in the neck position, so, thankfully, according to Viv in the video, it is in the bridge. I think it was another Gibson oops on the spec sheet. Also weird that both pups have a slug and a screw since both the S3 and the SD have hex screws for both sets of poles, apparently a custom version of those for this guitar(?).

Beautiful guitar and like BR, I love the specs, but also like BR, it's above my pay grade so congrats to the people that can afford them. Of course, I live and work near Wildwood guitars where 90% of their inventory is above my paygrade, and yes, I think they have a few.

Re: Viv Campbell sig LP..

i have a distortion set and get the hot neck pup thing. the super3 just seems like an odd pup to put in the neck, especially of a lp.

Real men do Jeremy.

real men that wear wigs? and spandex?

Re: Viv Campbell sig LP..

3 things:

In his Dio era days, his tone was total garbage. It may have been production but IDK. With that said, I totally prefer him playing his old LP Deluxe he routed for full humbuckers or a Jackson/Charvel. This LP is way too much

Those pickups pictured in the guitar do not look like Super D/Super 3 combo. They have screws and standard slugs.

Way over priced. As previously said, they should have modeled his LP Deluxe and made that his sig guitar.

Re: Viv Campbell sig LP..

:wow:

That's a lot of $$$$. With Gibson's QC it probably comes with extra flaws for no extra charge.

You are full of erroneous information, aren't you?

This is technically incorrect. You can purchase instruments from Sweetwater without ever speaking to a sales person (They are not called "Engineers" either). You are also in no way required to provide your phone number, and even if they did, current FCC regulations allow you to opt out of them or halt them upon request.

Actually, their title is "Sales Engineer".

The prices are not 30-40% higher than what you'd pay elsewhere, either.
