Viv Campbell sig LP..

Re: Viv Campbell sig LP..

Gibson as a company is flat out willing to lie to you to cut their costs and increase their margins, which should be ridiculously high already. "Aged Trapezoid Inlays" anyone? What a load of BS.

Objectively, I really liked the Richlite boards I have played. One was on a truly exceptional Custom Classic model. Guitar was impeccable out of the box. I'd put it on all of my Under $1000 guitars...

Play with your ears and hands, not your brain and predispositions. Blind, you all would probably dig it I think.

And ANY time you hear "and it's made in the USA," you should run as fast as possible. That is an attempt for patriotic sympathy against bad management practices and poor quality plain and simple. Case in point: Where does all the other wood and electronics come from? Liars.

Re: Viv Campbell sig LP..

I would really suggest playing a guitar with a Richlite fretboards. Just because it is not as expensive as ebony doesn't mean it is not a premium matrial. It feels impressive to play; the boards are true and smooth. Maintenance down the road will be much easier if you need to do a refret, no shrinkage or splintering. Like Mincer said playing the guitar you really do not feel or hear a difference. The only thing I notice is very controllable and smooth bends all over the neck. I am really enjoying this guitar. I do not feel in anyway like they used subpar matirials in the construction.

I’ve blindly tried and liked richlite.

My Steinberger has a Richlite fingerboard. It does feel really good, but I bet it is pretty cheap to produce compared to wood. For that kind of money though, I'd want something really special- like 'this was made out of Edgar Allan Poe's old writing desk'.

I don't think he'd be happy about that idea.

I have no problem with "alternate" materials.
