is there any PEDALS out there that emulate the Vox AC30? I got my clean and metal tones but ive been looking for a good overdrive sound for a bit now and the only thing that gets in the neighborhood of the tone in my head is the AC setting on my practice amp (Roland cube street)

Re: vox ac

yeh thru fender amps. Its pretty sweet, but it doesnt sound exactly like a vox in that context because its a pedal running thru a fender amp. Its just a really sweet overdrive pedal with a nice grainy texture and plenty of control.
In my experience you cant make one amp sound like another amp. You can get a wide range of different tones from the amp you are using by using pedals, but all amps have their signature which is inescapable. None of them are a blank slate, which is what makes different amps cool. Still - its a great pedal tho.
What amp are you using as your platform?

you know something funny? I use a micro cube and i really enjoy the vox setting.

Re: vox ac

IF you want that AC30 slight dirty but kinda clean thing look at the Wampler Thrity Something, totally nails it in all the clips I've heard and I am picky about AC30 sounds (most modellers don't cut it). Other pedals like the Galileo are cool for that distorted May style lead thing but that to me is alot different sound then the cleaner stuff.

Re: vox ac

You wont get an ac30 ish tone out of that marshall no matter what pedal you use. If you are after something low gain and rich sounding, you can definitely get it (kinda like that cube tone but better) and you will be sure to get a cool sound, just don't get too hung up on replicating an AC30. No matter what the advertising says on this pedal or that pedal, you will always sound like you are playing thru a marshall, but via some kind of overdrive pedal. So try a few pedals until you are happy with what you are hearing. Don't overlook the tried and true fulltone fulldrive for a sweet singing midrange tone with plenty of tweakability and the extra boost for when you play high on the fretboard. I reckon one of those will get you 90% of the way there if you run thru your clean channel.

If you wanna try something cheap but good, look no further than the Joyo/Rocktron/Harvey Benton AC Tone. Sounds great for the price and does great Vox-like tones ranging from light breakup to full on Brian May. Costs very little and has been a staple on my board for the last two years for edgy clean foundation tone. When it breaks, I will buy another (or try the Tech 21 Liverpool that it is based on).

Re: vox ac

Of and that is into the clean channel of Marshall JVM Combo normally but it also works well to stack gain for dirty leads ala Neil Young.
