Vox Night Train - Wow!

If you guys haven't heard this little jewel, you really should hunt one down. I didn't play it, but I watched another guy play it today in a local music store. It was running through a 2 x 12, but I'm not sure what kind of speakers. Sounded a lot like V30s. He had an Epi LP Custom, and the NT was easily the best amp I've heard in it's class.

2 EL84s, 2 12AX7s, 15 or 7.5w switchable...beyond sweet. I thought Mike Campbell of Tom Petty's Heartbreakers was in the house. I'm gassing bigtime for one of these. Incredible.

Re: Vox Night Train - Wow!

Over the past few years I've really been enjoying the Vox/Korg stuff.....I bought the Valvetronix VTH 120 head and it's matching cab when it came out(Still have it).....Recently I bought the ToneLab LE and have dialed up some real convincing tones from that...Upon seeing Vox's new little all tube monster(night train),I Knew it would sound killer, plus it looks killer too.....I'd love to have one just to crank it into either my V30 2X12 Vox cab or my Marshall 4x12 with V30s....Now there's something else I want from the Vox line! ;o) An amp like that is great to just throw in the car, hook it up to a nice cab,and wank away...Does it have an efx loop? Probably not....

I sold my little blonde pro juinor amp but a small tube head would be very cool.....

Man, Vox gets my props cause they build killer amps like that, and don't try to overcharge for them. If that had Savage on the name plate it would go for at least $1500.

Re: Vox Night Train - Wow!

hope when I get my Frenzel HOTBOX/AC15 it will make me happy as it was between that and the nightrain!

Re: Vox Night Train - Wow!

i was really surprised when I first heard it. In comparison to the Orange tiny terror, it seems to have more tonal options and more clarity (which I like)

Re: Vox Night Train - Wow!

They're also making a little half-open back 1 x 12 with a single greenback in it for the NT to sit on. That's got my attention, too.

I thought I wanted a Blackstar HT5 or a Tiny Terror, but this little amp is calling my name.

More coolisms with the Vox...I Love the looks of that head!

Re: Vox Night Train - Wow!

The one I tried was really good. it can do a very convincing top boosty jangle with the 'bright' switch on and really cool gain tones with the 'thick' switch on.

Given the choice between a Night train and a Tiny Terror it'd be the Vox all the way for me.

As an AC15 fan, i ws GAS'ing for this amp when i heard that it's in the making, not even knowing how it looks like :14:

Even the current crappy compressed to hell and gone Utoob clips made me want one big time !
I would LOVE (and has mentioned it in a previous thread allready) to have a "little" 4 amp 15watt clan set-up.

Vox Night Train
Orange Tiny Terror
Marshall Haze15
MATAMP King Street

. . . each running into their own 2x12 cabs (standing vertically) with after market speaker that suit each amp.

Expensive "dream-rig", but one that is not totally unrealistic either !

I keep scanning Utoob for new Night Train clips every week or so !!!

Haha, for what you'd spend on that you could get a 65 London and forever be done with wanting any of those amps.

Re: Vox Night Train - Wow!

Hmm, I bet it would sound business with a booster and a Celestion Blue loaded 2x12.

Wonder if the Greenback in that cab is a proper UK one or a Chinese knockoff, like the speakers that come in all the other Vox amps...
