VR/APS-1 . . . neck/middle order?

I've got a Twang Banger here, (for the bridge), that I want to check out in my Strat. The only other pups that I have "on the bench" that even come close to matching this, are a Vintage Rails and an APS-1.

So . . . which would you put in the neck, and which for the middle?

(My other bench-sitters are SSL-6's, QP's and Cool Rails, all of which, I believe, would overpower the TB.)

i had an APS1 in the middle position on my strat, and they blended together well

I'd ask if you want to trade my APS-1 for your RW/RP APS-1, but I know you're trying to sell it.

heh, yea, i'd do it if i had any use for strat pickups, but i won't have a strat to put it in

Give the CR a try in the neck. I like buckers blended with tele lead pickups.

Put the APS-1 in the mid for the requisite quack tones and do some fancy wiring so that you can have all 7 pickup options available.

I thought about the CR, (thats whats in there now), but I'm just afraid that it might overpower the TB. Its wound hotter and has a ceramic mag compared to the TB's A2.

I’m a bigger fan of the bridge/middle notch position than the neck/middle, so I’d probably try the VR neck and APS-1 in the middle. That'd save the VRn for some nice clean and chimey neck tones.

No one said you couldn’t try both, you know.

I'm not big on the middle pickup anyway, so I would put the one I like best in the neck and the other in the middle.

APS-1 in the middle, vintage rails in the neck.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I went with the APS-1 in the middle, to start with. So now I have - Twang Banger/APS-1/VR. I'll have to tweak pup heights and EQ settings and play with this for awhile before I critique it. It definitely doesn't jump out at me as being ideal. But I'll give it some time.
