Wah Sweep Not Smooth Anymore

The sweep of my wah is not as smooth as it was anymore. There is a little bit of a jump from bass to treble when the pedal is close to midway position as it goes to the toe position.

The wah is Crybaby from Hell and has been used constantly for about 8 months.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

You may have to re align the sweep gear on the pot. Just unscrew the nylon bumper and move it to the side, Find the sweet spot in the pot and put it back together.:)

Re: Wah Sweep Not Smooth Anymore

check to see that the gear still has that light greasy goop on it

it's also possible you may have worn out the pot and it needs replacing, but check the gear first.

btw, dunlop has a good wah FAQ

Re: Wah Sweep Not Smooth Anymore

If you're talking about the feel of the pedal, then the last two posts are right. But if you're talking about electronically there's a jump in the wah's sound, even though you're moving your foot smoothly, then you need to clean the pot with contact cleaner, or replace it with a new one like Curly said. Dunlop sells new pots. But always try cleaner first, in case it's just some dust or smoke residue.

Ah, thanks for the replies, fellas. All are noted.

The slight jump is electronic, I think, because when I sweep slowly, there's a slight jump to the treblely sound.

I'll take a look at it.

Thanks!
