Want to install SDs in a Parker Nitefly - having trouble with replacing the Dimarzios

I have got a couple of Seymour Duncans that I want to try in the Nitefly. The stock pickups are Dimarzios. However, I struggle a bit with getting my head around the wiring in this thing. I hoped that I only needed to slap in the SDs, and wire them up in the similar way, but apparently not.

Here's the diagram that is closest to what I want:

The push pull pot in the Nitefly is the tone pot, though. And there's other differences.... At the bottom of this post is a simple diagram which describes the wiring in my Nitefly. The differences I have found are as follows (note that the screw poles of the Dimarzios are positioned towards each other, contrary to the diagram from Seymour):

a) the connection between the volume and tone pot: the SD diagram instructs to connect the left terminal (L in the drawing) on the tone pot, and further wiring out to the switch. The stock wiring in the Nitefly connects the volume pot to the center terminal on the tone pot (C in drawing).
As a result, the cap going to ground is connected to the center terminal in the SD diagram, but it is connected to the left terminal in my guitar. Additionally, there's no cap on the volume pot in the SD diagram.

b) this puzzles me the most: I know that various pickup producents have different color codes on their wires. However, whereas the SD pickups have both of their red and white wires going to the push pull circuit, the Dimarzios have the green and red wires from the neck to the push pull terminals, and black and white wires from the bridge. Why not the same, as it is instructed for the SDs? It doesn't make sense to me.. Same thing goes for the other connections..

Also, there's no apparent grounding for the 3-way switch.. There are no bad sounds or noises from the set I have in their now.. If someone could enlighten me a bit on this, I would greatly appreciate it! :)

well it seems that one of the pickups was out of phase with the other, i had a similar problem with dimarzio, i would just try and wire it normally with the duncans with black hot, green gnd, red/white to push pull, just wire the tone to center like it is already, as for the grounding to the switch, i dont think it is necessary since the connections are grounded elsewhere, and the cap on your vol pot is for the treble bleed mod, which makes it so the treble is not rolled down when the volume is

For the color codes...i dont know if this applies to DMZ btu i know PRS have different color wire for hot/ground between neck and bridge pups. Its something to do with being easier or to make or something like that, i forget.

Anyways, get on the web and find color coding for DMZ pups. Then translate that over to the duncans. The follow the DMZ diagram you drew up with the translated codes for your duncan pups.

I cant answer the intricacies of the wiring differences for you though. Sorry, i just dont know enough about it.

looks like they reversed the coils, if you have them standard there is no difference, but split, one splits to the north and one to the south so they are hum canceling in the middle position when split. This is how I wired my duncans BTW. So easiest would be to just wire as the duncan diagram shows from the pickups to the push pull to the 3 way. Leave all the other wiring alone.

Thanks for your input, gents! I will try using the SD diagram for the pickup wires solely to begin with. If it isn't working properly, I will try translating the wire codes and use the original layout as the Scotsman suggested.

Thanks! :)

I can chime in here with the conclusion, so that the thread becomes useful... It now works effortlessly. Every wire from the pickups were soldered accordingly to the schematic. The rest of the wiring was left as it is. :)
