Wanting to buy a new amp

Hi,

My name is Joey Centiago and I am looking for a acoustic guitar amp.
The amp has to specific be for an acoustic guitar.
My budget sits around 350 Dollars.
I'm looking for an amp that sounds good, clean and natural.

The amps I myself found that should be any good.

1. Behringer ACX 1800
2. Ibanez Troubadour t80
3. Fishman loudbox mini
4. Fender acoustonic 90
5. Marshall AS50D

Videosamples for checking out the sounds

Ibanez Troubadour t80 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScVfMsRKHes

Fishman loudbox mini http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msP860eBnRE

Fender acoustonic 90 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NJdOQT1cbg

Marshall AS50D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sMc1w0LhTQ

My brother who is helping me with this says that the video's are made by different guitar

players with different guitars so it is not really a perfect way to see which sounds better, but

anyway, check it out.
I like to know what you guys think.
My brother finds the Fishman loudbox Mini the best because the sound sounds the most natural,
And he likes the marshall also, but a lit less than the Fishman.

My questions:

1. is 50 watt enough to stay clean when I take the volume to just loud enough to hear it more

than the acoustic volume of my steelstring guitar? (because my brother says, the more watt the

longer its stays clean when you crank up the volume)

2. Has anyone played on one of these and likes it or not, please say why.

3. Does anyone know an amp that's not on my list, but that I should consider for around 350

dollars and meets my wishes (good sound, clean and natural)

My first question is, why are you buying an amp? Are you going to be performing? If so, what's the situation? Are you in a band, or just playing solo or in a duo?

The reason I ask is, if you are just playing in your house, there's really no need to have an amp for your acoustic guitar.

As far as your question goes, I'd take the Fishman Loudbox Mini over just about any acoustic guitar amp out there. They are light and portable, and get a really nice sound.

Yes -
I have heard the Loud Box mini a few times. Sounded good with magnetic and piezo pickups.
That is to say, it sounded good with an acoustic, and a Telecaster.
best

Re: Wanting to buy a new amp

1) Acoustic amps are built differently than guitar amps and more like bass amps where clarity and cleanness is preferred. You probably won't find a lot of drive in any acoustic amp you look at. Also, 50 watts is pretty loud; usually loud enough to be heard with a drummer playing.

2) I haven't. I'm just being a know-it-all here. Sorry!

3) Peavey makes an acoustic guitar amp that may work, and Acoustic (the brand) makes some as well. Acoustic is an excellent brand. I imagine a powered speaker will work in a pinch as well, like from a P.A. I also forgot about the Lunchbox amps from ZT. They're tiny and really, really loud.

The situation is a small room with a bass player and a couple of vocals.
And at home i'd like to check out the electronics on my Yamaha AC3R, so i'd really like true amplification.

Loudbox mini definitely! I have messed around with one of the loudboxes at GC and it was nice, I also heard someone demo it Amazing quality for a good price, It can get really loud if needed, and the chorus was great sounding too! but I agree with Jon here, an acoustic should sound good either on its own or thru any decent speaker system or small amp. Acoustic amps might sound better than electric amps for acoustic tho.

In that case, Loudbox Mini hands down. It's the best bang for your buck in acoustic amps. Nothing else even comes close in my opinion. It's capable of being very loud, and sounds very natural with a variety of acoustic pickups.

Without question! I've been gigging a Loudbox Mini for two years and it's still awesome. I also have a Crate Gunnison acoustic amp, and just recently sold my Fishman SA220 "fishstick". It was even more awesome than the Mini, but overkill for most people's needs.

I've also gigged/demo'd the various Roland AC amps, as well as the Fishman Loudbox Artist and Performer models. I just don't think that it gets any better than the Mini. It was the most natural sounding of all of them to me, by far. And being the cheapest AND lightest... how can you go wrong?
