Warehouse Guitar Speakers...

Re: Warehouse Guitar Speakers...

no none taken at all
I can attest that the vox cab is cheap MDF and sounds too loose and muffled.

Re: Warehouse Guitar Speakers...

Seems like reviews are mixed about the Green Berets are far as accuracy, but heck even all the old and new celestions sound different, though all are in the same ballpark. I notice many of the poor reviews are old/from folks who bought them initially at the super cheap prices. "Current" reviews are very positive.

Ultimately its about the tone. If they are a quality speaker that gets into that true greenback territory without any severe tonal deficiencies fine. If not, I have no problem putting a modern Celestion in there, IME they sound fantastic once broken in.
If you want a it to sound like a greenback buy a Greenback.
I like the WGS speakers I have because of the way they sound not because they cost less than Celestians. I have done head to heads a couple times in combos and cabs between Celestians and WGS and the WGS speakers were used simply because of the tone I got with them.

starting to really warm up. Frankly, it makes a more dramatic positive difference with the Class5 than the HK (though it is a big improvement).between the new tubes, and the speaker , the class 5 has turned from a rough buzzy somewhat vintage style marshall amp into a good low watt low volume jmp mini-me. If I had to sell an amp right now,.it would not be the C5.

I have noticed my rolled of cleans do not have as much detail as with the V30, but my pedals sound much fuller, clearer, and warmer. The delay repeats are more organic sounding..the phasing....even the Badass is improved.

Nice speaker. I think it is a little smoother/less aggressive than new Greenbacks, but it is definitely in the ballpark. Also if you need beefy lows for gigging, make sure you are using a 2x12 or 4x12 full of them.

When it comes to buying a new cab, which I hope to do soon, I would definitely consider these as an option, but I would not go out of my way to buy them over the real deal, unless price was first and foremost on my mind or I had an amp I felt needed maximum harsh reduction.

I've owned Green Berets and Ipswich works Greenbacks from the '80's and I prefer the WGS actually. While they're not quite the same thing, the Green Berets tend to get less wooly when really pushed and generally sound a little less fizzy than the Celestions. Both are great speakers, IMO.
