Warehouse Speakers - Green Beret

I'm in the process of replacing the speakers in my Crate Vintage Club 2X12. So I got a Warehouse Green Beret (Greenback clone). Eventually I'll replace both speakers, but I wanted to check one out first before doing both. I had considered their Veteran 30 (Vintage 30 clone) , but the guy at WS suggested the Green Berets for this amp.

Long story short: Without even being broken in yet, the Green Beret sounds much better than the stock speaker: Nicely defined midrange and bottom, and the top end is not too trebley. The original Crate speakers were good, but they have a very even mid-bass-treble thing going. The Warehouse speaker really makes the amp come alive (to use a worn out cliche').

Should take about two weeks to break in provided I play the hell out of it. I'll try and record down the road and post a sample.

"Adios Amigos! No soup for you!"

After the break-in, you will love them. I have one in my Plexi combo, and it is AWESOME

Glad you like it. I got two different versions of their "Reaper" model in my 2x12 and love them.

Re: Warehouse Speakers - Green Beret

I can definitly say I like the price. The Green Beret looks like a good deal.

Re: Warehouse Speakers - Green Beret

Nice! Those amps cook but you know that. The stock speakers aren't bad at all so those Warehouse speakers must rock.

Scott,

The Crate does indeed cook! (I think you used to have one if memory serves me). The Green Berets will really open it up. Can't wait to complete the set and fire up the clean channel and let the EL84's really smoke:14:

Re: Warehouse Speakers - Green Beret

I liked them. I eventually parted with them in favor of more power, but they were crisp while staying nice and full.

Re: Warehouse Speakers - Green Beret

Usually I tie 3 or 4 of them together and they make a good boat anchor.

Re: Warehouse Speakers - Green Beret

I have a Carvin 4x12 that Ive considered for years changing out the speakers, but it's never been that big of an issue that Ive wanted to drop $4-500 in it. This would allow me to update it for reasonable.. Now, I just have to decide on a quad of these or a combo. (equivalent of greenbacks/vin 30s)

Re: Warehouse Speakers - Green Beret

My Greenback Marshall cab has slowly become my favorite.
I like my Mesa cab and it's V30's, my GT75's and WGS R30's, but not ALL the time.
The Greenbacks are just so sweet, warm and thick. If find they can also be aggressive without being offensive.
I'm thinking of getting two Green Berets for my other Marshall cab....

I think a combo of Green Berets and Veteran 30s would be real nice.

Re: Warehouse Speakers - Green Beret

I use a Green Beret and a Reaper in the Plexi. I definitely love the tones I am getting.

Re: Warehouse Speakers - Green Beret

Yeknow the Reaper 55Hz looks like the same speaker as a Weber 1230-55 https://taweber.powweb.com/weber/1230-55f.htm

H magnet, ceramic, 55Hz Mueller cone, and can be ordered in 30-watt (but $30 more than the Reaper.)

NOTE: maybe it's only their marketing team, but if a company is going to put clips of a *speaker* on their site they must not know much about speakers or they would know that the speakers most people listen to clips on their computer with are going to be more of a disturbance and are not going to represent what you would hear standing in the room with the real thing.

They look like fine quality speakers at very fair price indeed!
If the shipping costs to Europe were not as high, I'd definitely give the Warhouse speakers a shot!
Enjoy your new speakers!! ;)

Re: Warehouse Speakers - Green Beret

The Reaper looks like an awsome spkr.

I wonder how it compares to a Celestion G12k. Maybe a little more bottom end?

So what is popular on main-land Europe for after market speakers ?

Most speaker Co's have sound clips on their sites.
