Warren Demartini vs JB

Re: Warren Demartini vs JB

I seem to recall the WDM has a slightly hotter wind. If so do you get closer putting an A2 in a DD?

...or am I getting this confused with a Dokkenbucker which is basically a DD with a single-thick ceramic.

I don’t own either, but i seem to remember someone here saying the RTM is based somewhat on the JB, but I can’t find the verification on that.

Re: Warren Demartini vs JB

I read somewhere that Warren Demartini used a JB on a few albums. Whether that's true, I don't know because it wouldn't make sense for Duncan to make a hotter wind with A2. However, from all the information and sounds I've been able to gather about the Duncan RTM, it seems very close to a JB.

Re: Warren Demartini vs JB

I have both, but I have never tested them both in the same guitar. I will have to do that at some point. Based solely off the guitars with the different pickups I'd say that they have a somewhat similar sound but that there is high-mid peak and more depth to the DeMartini. It is probably a better all-rounder (or at least it would have been had it not been so hot), but it doesn't do quite the same thing as the JB. Both have their place.

Re: Warren Demartini vs JB

Thanks for the info. When you say "more depth," do you mean as in low end shape or as in more dimension?

Re: Warren Demartini vs JB

A little bit of both perhaps. I think the RTM is a bit more even in bass/treble response than the JB. It is more even in general, I find.
