Wax potting

The critical thing is temperature control.
The crock pot I used only had high or low settings. In order to fully melt the wax the temp was around 180F. So I shut it off until the temp dropped to about 140. Once you dip the pickup in the wax, it started to congeal on the base plate. I’m assuming the relatively cold temp of the plate was causing this.
So I turned on the pot again and brought the temp back up to 150 +\- and once the temp got there the wax again thinned out enough that I could gently remove it with the point of the meat thermometer.
