Weber Mini Mass vs. THD HP

Just bought my first non MV amp and I'm in serious need of a good attenuator. I borrowed a friends Weber Mini Mass and I really don't like the way it makes my amp sound. To my ears the Weber kills the tone and vibe that the amp has without attenuation. Is the THD Hotplate any better? Any info from you guys that use attenuators is appreciated.

How much are you trying to drop the volume? I have both the HP and the MM and either one sucks tone and feel when attenuating more than about 8dB.

I dont know, I love my MassLite, not only do I use sometimes I use it even when I play with a band just to get the tone I want. I always had a feeling that non-MV amps are such all or nothing beasts that attenuator just not gonna work with these ...

I'm trying to get a decent tone at bedroom levels. So even the Hotplate colors the tone? I've read good things about the Dr.Z Airbrake and the new BadCat Leash. Might have to go that route.

You're wasting your time and money if you try to use an attenuator to get a non-master volume amp down to bedroom levels.

About the only thing you can do at that point is reamp (dummy load + line out into a master volume amp into a cab).
