I love the crunch on the 4 chords they play right before the chorus where he comes in " Imma do the things....." so is that just a good crunch or is there some fuzz in that? My ears won't tell me

Sounds like a fuzz to me, I just heard it about half hour ago on the radio on the way to work.

Most Weezer album tones are straight up Les Paul / cranked Marshall.

I'm no expert, but I thought it was SG + cranked Marshall.

I've been doing Weezer covers for quite some time now with only a cranked Marshall. No pedal required...

Yeah he's using an SG in the new videos. Most of the Blue and Pinkerton albums were done on a vintage double-cut Les Paul with P90's...

I kinda use Les Paul as a general term for all Gibson-style axes. You know, ballpark tone...

Aren't VHT's EL34 amps based on Marshalls? :smokin:

You can split hairs about Rivers' tone all day but it won't get you any closer to it. He uses different gear on every album and always sounds like himself.

Turn your amp up, get it crunchy with an OD if you have to, and rock out as hard as you can...complicating it further than that gets in the way of the simple, poppy rock-n-roll goodness.
