Weird, why would Cory Wong wire his guitar like this?

I was checking the specs for Cory Wong's strat (mostly just curious what resistance duncan wound for him) and noticed that he has a weird setup:

Neck - 6.5k - South polarity
Mid - 6.7k - North polarity
Bridge - 13.4k - North polarity

From the polarity I thought that maybe he was using neck + mid and neck + bridge for switching options (I do something similar on one of my guitars) and the polarity would let both be hum cancelling, but further on it shows that he has pretty much regular strat switching. (There's a push-pull that disables the switch and turns on just the neck and middle, but other than that it's standard strat).

Why would he not want position 4 to be hum cancelling?

Did you check the actual wiring? I search Fender Cory Wong Stratocaster PDF to get the service diagram to verify.

My assumption would be the same as yours, he uses N/M and N/B.

After checking the service diagram, it also agrees.

Strange to me.

One other thing, it could be a recreation of an original mixed pickup set? (Where you have to swap and middle and reverse the leads to get hum cancelling on all positions, and maybe he didn’t swap positions originally?).

That's what I was thinking . . . but like . . . wouldn't someone have told him? Hey man . . . you could have no hum in two positions on a strat!

Position 4 is hum-canceling. Neck reversed from middle. And he has a push-push on tone 2 to jump to it from any position. The bridge is a stack, so position 2 doesn't matter, it'll never be hum-cancelling. If the middle were reversed, I would expect position 2 would be just anemic and out of phase. (Someone correct me if I'm wong?)
