Welcome to the family Mr JP6

Well it has finally arrived, the long (about 7 months) my JP 6 is over.

I have only had time to take it out of the case, which is very nice by the way and put a strap on it.

The looks of the build look absolutely fantastic, feels nice and lite and the feel seems very good. Cannot wait to get some time with it.

Re: Welcome to the family Mr JP6

With this manufacture they are made when the order comes in which another member here verified over at a site that I believe is a Music Man/Ernie Ball place.

So when my order went to them I was last in line at that time, as people’s guitars were made who were in front of me I kept moving up in the line until it was time for mine to be built. It is a complete stock guitar, no changes were requested from me.

Sweet! But why the twin toggles? Inquiring minds want to know. ;)

Re: Welcome to the family Mr JP6

That is one sleek looking guitar and the upper fret access on that axe seems to be ultra-functional.

The switch by the volume knobs is a 3-way pickup toggle, while the switch on the upper bout is for magnetic / piezo / both.

Got some fret buzz on the low E string.

I am not familiar with this setup so I will have to do some research on it.

Best neck of any guitar I have ever had. Not that I have had a lot it man that thing is nice.

A common issue - try raising the action a bit. If that doesn't work, you might need some spot fret leveling. You could get a small flat metal ruler if you have one and rock it gently between 3 frets at a time up and down the fretboard to see if one is higher than the others. If so, take it to a tech.

Well, that is BS. Expensive guitar like that needs a fret level? Like buying a Mercedes and it only has 3 tires. Hope it works out and only needs a truss rod turn

It was just the action. And I love the way the truss rod is adjustable on that model.

And I would have lost it if I waited that long at that cost for a guitar that needed a fret job.

Great to hear! Enjoy that awesome guitar

Re: Welcome to the family Mr JP6

Fantastic guitars! Congrats.

And when I worked at the store, ordering in ayn EB/MM guitars / Bases took anywhere from 4-12 months.

Re: Welcome to the family Mr JP6

Not my thing but it is an absolutely amazing guitar. Max out the fun with it mate.

Re: Welcome to the family Mr JP6

Awesome purchase! Killer guitars through and through. I'm sure you'll be happy to spend a lifetime with it!

P.S. - Isn't that technically a JPXI, not a "JP6"?

Re: Welcome to the family Mr JP6

Well I lower the action since I was hoping after the guitar was in the house and acclimated my original raising of it to get rid of the fret buzz would not be necessary but I was wrong. Lowered the action and the buzz was back.

I am running it to a pro shop for a look over and setup. I am not messing with a brand new guitar that cost this much. I have already communicated with Sweetwater about this and they will be doing right by me.

Very surprised on this issue coming from this manufacturer as I heard they are a company that this stuff does not happen to on new guitars but there is always that one.

Just stuff happens and I am not pissed since it is only a guitar and I have more important things to get get pissed about.

Re: Welcome to the family Mr JP6

Congrats on the new guitar. Not a fan of the EB/MM only because they feel tiny on me, but I appreciate the quality they are.

Now next time though, scoop the cat box before taking picts in front of it.

Haha!

Re: Welcome to the family Mr JP6

That has to be one of the best replies I have ever received!!!!!!

My apologies there is cat **** in the picture but at least I did not include the cat. There are enough cat pictures and videos on the web of cats so I thought I would give another point of view of “the cat”.
