So I finally got my amp. Bought it used from gc. Good price. Quick shipping. However they didn't supply / include the power cord... fail. Whatever no big deal. Saw pre amps are all jjs. Booo. Planned on swapping the pres out anyway. Saw power Tubes were 6l6. Wth. I know it's 6l6 capable but legacy is el34. I got it for el34s. Fuuuu. There goes $100 down the drain.

Re: Well I got my amp ... fail

El34 holders appear snapped off and reverb wire dangling. Not to mention dry wall screws to close the back. Eff the previous owner

Are they supposed to give details along those lines when they're listing an item, or is it pretty much "Used/AS IS"?

Re: Well I got my amp ... fail

Sometimes they do. Usually no. I do have a 30 day return option though. Was eventually going buy el34s anyway. Guess 6l6 will be my backup. Just sucks. I'm going have a tech look it over just to make sure nothings wrong. As long as it's good. I'll take the hit

any reason? You gave me the reasons...

Maybe eff the previous owner a little, but eff the salesguy who rang you up without telling you about the mods. I literally do what those guys do for a living and you dont sell equipment to a musician without disclosing the flaws, mods and defects. "Snapped off" tube sockets? That's a broken amp.
Unless you just saw that it was in stock on their website and you just ordered it assuming it was perfect without asking a dude in the store to check it out... Then you kiiinda deserve it, yknow? :P

Either way, I would send that amp back where it came from and buy one that hasn't been ruined.

I was making sure you didn't see something else. The dry wall screws are only on the back part you remove to get to the tubes. The holders that are snapped off appear to be spring s. Are they required for el34?

Re: Well I got my amp ... fail

Not sure but I'd rather have a refund than a tech bill any day of the week.

Duno if this is your dream amp or if you got a crazy deal or anything but I don't like spending big money and not getting what I paid for. Hell I don't like going to taco bell and not getting what I paid for....

Yeah, Taco Bell's night crew sucks.

Re: Well I got my amp ... fail

I'm going to play it by year, test it out and get it checked out. If it's only the sockets that's a quick $8 fix. I got a good deal on the head, it's an amp I wanted for a while, have 4 years of experience with it so I know what it can and can't do, and I bought a custom made cab for it already

Re: Well I got my amp ... fail

You dont really need those holders. They are only really useful in combos where the valves are hanging upside down and still then they aren't needed unless the sockets are really worn and loose.

Re: Well I got my amp ... fail

Def get it looked at, since you state you got a good deal and if it chex out ok, then play the crap outta it! Diff screws are not uncommon as the wood gets "chewed out" or however you'd say it. Me, being slightly A Retentive about my gear, woulda went with proper wood screws, but Ive noticed alot in rock and roll and in motocross racing/dirt bike repair, there is alot of rigging going on. keep it going, proper or not.

Re: Well I got my amp ... fail

Scary I just bought a small keyboard amp from GC online used. Great transaction, awesome price and the amnp was in great condition. I was thinking of going with them again for a used Roland JC 120 now I am rethinking it. Do you have to ship it back or can you drive over to your local GC for a return?
