...after almost 2 years of ownership with the same stock strings daddario 10's. The new set is also daddario 10's. Well, before the flame war begins , ok, i know it was stupid to leave the old strings too long, i just felt the need to share my experience with this. I am not young or noob at all, but this guitar is the only LP-ish i own, relatively new, and i am generally hesitant with this. So here are the observations :
- i just thought this guitar plays rather good. Ok, this guitar plays now extremely good
- I was having tuning problems, G string and the like. After removing the old strings and applying some of this
Super-Glide_72.png
in the (tusq) nut slots, re-stringing and applying a little bit also on the top the tuning problems went away.
- The tension is much lighter than it used to be. With the same gauge strings. Plays like butter now.

That's all folks, so moral of the story : if you feel the GAS possessing you, even if you just feel bad, you can always remedy the situation with some new strings to your existing gear! HAHA

Ok, wearing helmet, back to my shelter :)

Just changed the strings on my Epi Les Paul Custom, I always love the feeling and look of new strings. I change mine about every other month

I was about to say that's too long but I just now realized it's been about 3 or so years since I changed the strings of my Strat and my MG100, they're both in their cases so it just slept my mind but perhaps it's due, maybe even overdue :D

You're doing fine. That's more often than a typical Greek changes his underwear! :18:

I don't know where you've heard that but we're actually pretty serious about our personal hygiene, not gonna say we're balls-to-the-walls hypochondriacs but a bath every day/hair wash every other day (always followed by a change of underwear) is the norm. Now Canadians and Australians on the other hand... :nana::nana:

Yeah agreed. I wash my hair maybe once in two weeks and I shower every second day :headbang: The rest of the family uses too much gas and water so i am making the difference.

Now, seriously this super-vee superglide did the trick. I always thought this guitar sucked in the tuning department. Seeing the tuning problems going away was a revelation. Better than getting new gear.
Also i am puzzled how can a set of new 10s would feel so softer than the previous stock ones.

Re: well, i just changed strings on my ARZ800 single cut ...

I'm not 100% on this, but I feel like use of strings causes them to lose flexibility/malleability to a certain extent. New strings will bend if you look at them wrong, but old strings you really need to work to get them to bend. They feel lighter because they're more flexible and resist changes to being straight (ie in equilibrium) much less than old strings do.

Re: well, i just changed strings on my ARZ800 single cut ...

All that plus the rust makes them feel stiffer on account of being less slinky :D

Re: well, i just changed strings on my ARZ800 single cut ...

Hmm intuition would say that strings become thinner after many bends, playing, etc, therefore slinkier, but maybe for some reason... its the opposite. i dont know.... Maybe they had fit 10.5' by error in the factory?

But the nicest surprise was the tuning problems going away.

Re: well, i just changed strings on my ARZ800 single cut ...

I have had my 12 string 10 years I have changed the strings twice.

Re: well, i just changed strings on my ARZ800 single cut ...

When I used to play seriously three to four times a week, I would change strings once a month. Now I usually wait until one breaks. That's why I like the D'Addario EXPs and the Ernie Ball Cobalts. Though I do tend to use string cleaner on them before playing.
