Well I pulled the trigger

Well even tho I set out to buy CIJ tele this week, I ended up succumbing to strat GAS. I couldn't find a tele that matched what I wanted locally or on ebay, that is unless I spent too much money. I picked up a nice american strat today at shop and decided that I needed a real strat for once. The only strat I've owned was my first guitar, a squier strat and it was a decent starter guitar, but nothing special.

Anyways, on to my score. I got a CIJ strat in 2 tone sunburst with a nitro maple neck and board made of "select" alder. It's got copper shielding throughout and usa pups and electronics, with some sort of capacitor upgrade along with a usa pickguard. This guitar will more than likely get duncanized, depending on how I like the fender vintage pups. Anyone have any experience with those pups? If so, how are they?

Re: Well I pulled the trigger

think thats a solid buy there my friend. you didnt get ripped off at all, could have paid alot more for similar.

i have heard some fender reissue picklups and id say, depending on what you play, you'll probably want to change at least the bridge, to me, i think they can sound a bit weak, but it depends what your after really.

if i had that guitar (despite im a a lefty) the only thing i would change to start with is the bridge pickup to a duncan singe coil with the vintage cover not to ruin the look.

see when you get it, you might love the sound.

The pups that came on the CIJ and MIJ guitars are kinda weak. I know that they are supposed to be "vintage voiced" but their output is ver low. I'd recomend a nice set of APS-1s. :)

i kind of wished the seller had some close up photos of the headstock.... hard to see the Fender label...

Good score bro! Spacetone didn't have anything?

I originally set out to find a tele, and spacetone had a few, but none that I really liked too much. I actually played an american strat they had with lace sensors and that one inspired me to get the one I just bought. All the guitars they had were either too expensive or just didn't do it for me.

Now begins the painful wait for that guitar to get here, which is always the worst part of buying on ebay.

WhoFan, I did think of that, but I checked the seller out and he seems honest, judging from his 100% feedback rate on over 800 items, including a bunch of guitars.
