Well, I'm Going To Attempt My First Guitar Assembly

Re: Well, I'm Going To Attempt My First Guitar Assembly

I think it looked awesome when you sanded it and the blue was just in the grain.

Take time between the coats of clear lacquer.

And by time, I mean at least 6 hours drying time... between coats.

I did a guitar a few years ago with 16 coats of clear lacquer - I swear you would think that you can reach deep into the finish.

Check out Stew-Mac for products.

Purple - All gold hardware, with black pickups/gold pole pieces. Rosewood or ebony fretboard.

Blue - Put nickel hardware and pickups in it. Maple neck would look sweet.

Get a tasteful looking headstock on whatever neck you buy...something resembling Ibanez, Suhr, or Carvin.
Avoid the bird head, hockey stick, or strat

I love that purple guitar. The dye job really turned out well on those!
