Well, I'm playing Crate again.

Good thing it's only a 15W practice amp from 1998.

I had to sell my POD to afford the money to get my Legacy fixed, so I decided rather than sell the Crate for $35 I'd keep it and use it as a bedroom practice amp.

It's really funny playing with good tube rigs and nice effects for so long and then going back to this thing. The weird thing is that if I set the controls right, it's enjoyable in it's own weird, semi-lo-fi way.

It does what I want it to do though, just give me something to jam on with my electrics at night. I should hook up my Fulltone OCD to it and see how it sounds! :lmao:

A lot can be said for a reliable little amp. Sometimes you need to keep that "guaranteed amp" as backup in the closet.

It is funny to come back to the "old standby" after some time.

Yeah, it's funny how things go full circle sometimes.

As far as my practice rig goes, it started with this Little crate in '98 then I used line 6 from about '02 up til now.

For my gigging rigs, I used Marshalls from '99-'03, and in '04 I got a cool Mesa, which I used for a year and then from '05 to now it's been the Carvin. Depending on what fits my needs best, I could keep the Carvin, or go with a Marshall, Mesa, Laney or Peavey.

There is a lot of good stuff coming from those companies.

Have you looked at the Peavey Windsor? There are quite a few older Peavey choices also...VTM, Triumph, Ultra. Some really cool stuff.

That'd be interesting! I wonder what the guitars on I've Had Enough or Red Hot Summer would sound like with the JSX... go ahead and experiment if you want! Hell, that might make a good a/b experiment for the tips and clips section.
