Well THAT's different. (new tele design from Fender)

Re: Well THAT's different. (new tele design from Fender)

No it isn't. Been Tele's with 5 way switching and three start pickups since forever almost.

And I guarantee someone put three slants in a long long time ago.

Cool, yes. New from Fender, marginally. Original? Not at all.

And I agree - I dig it too!

Look closer dude. It uses TELE BRIDGE pickups in the neck and middle position. Never seen that before...

Re: Well THAT's different. (new tele design from Fender)

I've considered using a Tele bridge pickup in the neck position before... Always wondered what it would sound like. This may be the final push I needed :D

Re: Well THAT's different. (new tele design from Fender)

I love it... but what the source? I can't find any info on this, no tineye matches on the image or anything. Is this really Fender's idea or some joe blow's photoshop dream?

As for the sound, if they were all stock bridge PU's, it would of course sound fat and dark, like single coil meets humbucker. I have a Strat with three SSL-4s, I imagine it would sound a lot like that. A fat middle coil gets you the Lindsey Buckingham Turner model 1 sound.

It looks like something G&L would do.

That looks like a deadly force.

They should of angled the neck pickup the other way.

Re: Well THAT's different. (new tele design from Fender)

I like everything except for the bridge.

Re: Well THAT's different. (new tele design from Fender)

The three bridge/treble pickups idea is probably something that the Custom Shop tried out. (Like the "Stealth" Esquire. Man, that idea REALLY caught on, didn't it?)

My local Fender dealer is very proud of being one of the first in the UK to stock this model. I haven't even touched it. Not planning to any time soon.

Re: Well THAT's different. (new tele design from Fender)

I thought the "nashville" Teles with 2 NECK pups sounded better than the ones with a Strat middle. 3 BRIDGE pups is definitely something I never thought of though.

Re: Well THAT's different. (new tele design from Fender)

Some country player put an extra bridge pickup in the neck spot back in the '50's. The Custom Shop has done it from time to time as well. I was talking about Teles with Fender Master Builder Todd Krause just a few weeks ago, and he mentioned that he had just built a guitar based on that old '50's one, and it was probably his favorite sounding Tele he'd ever made. It's not that far away of an idea to make it a triple pickup version. I'm sure it sounds great. I just wish that the neck and middle pickups were not angled, because it looks downright retarded that way. I also find master tone controls on multiple-pickup guitars to be a huge pain in the ass. If it had to be kept at only two knobs, I'd prefer a T/T setup to a V/T setup on that guitar. More likely, I'd probably convert it to V/T/T/T using stacked knobs.

I am with you totally.

Thought of it years ago, decided it was a horrible idea. Though I was considering dual not triple tele bridges. It just seems like too much to me. Would I try one? Yeah, just out of morbid curiosity. I suspect it would sound nothing like I would anticipate though.

Eddie's been there with the Frankenstein, there's pics out there where it has a Tele bridge pup in the middle (and neck too? can't remember), even though it was probably never hooked up.

Re: Well THAT's different. (new tele design from Fender)

I was flipping through some weird guitar mag at a shop once and it had a picture of j. geils or whatever with a Les Paul he had hacked a tele bridge pickup into the neck hole on.
