Not exactly. Lets put it this way, I recently experienced zero grief for spending nearly $600 on a guitar because my wife also got a new Laptop.
But hey, you could buy her a Studio or something for the purpose of teaching her how to play, even though you know she will never play it ... and it soon becomes yours anyway. :bigok:
