what about the question of Seymour Duncan's name not on new release pickups?

Re: what about the question of Seymour Duncan's name not on new release pickups?

Saw somewhere this question posted but cannot find it or an answer.

Since the Duality set is a completely new type of pickup for us, we decided to go with a different logo to help set it apart. Plus we think the 'S' logo looks cool and we don't use it enough!

Other new pickup models, like the Saturday Night Special set and Alpha and Omega set still use the traditional logo.

Wasn't the Alpha-Omega released in 2015?

Re: what about the question of Seymour Duncan's name not on new release pickups?

Ah, the 7 and 8 string models I heard about last Spring/Summer. So they are production models? Probably a good move.

As for the Sat Night Spec and other PAF type pickups, it might be nice to have them without the logo...without having to go to the wait for a prod floor custom. Many PAF type guys (especially outside the microcosm of SDUGF) want a more PAF look to go with the PAF sound.

Re: what about the question of Seymour Duncan's name not on new release pickups?

Yep! Six, seven, and eight string versions of the Alpha and Omega set will all be available from the production line in March.

I agree that it would be nice to have more readily available cosmetic options, but for the time being all of those options are available as a Shop Floor Custom, which usually only takes a week or two to complete.

Where does that leave people that paid more for the custom shop version of the Alpha-Omega during the limited release?

Given that so many PAF type players feel a certain way about PAFs, it seems other builders are able to be more nimble and seize more of that market. Which is fine, I suppose...there are a lot of PAF options out there.

The original offering was a limited edition pickup set made by our master winders in the Custom Shop, with each set coming in a signed and dated box. They were also packaged with bonus material, including a digital copy of Periphery's most recent album at the time.

The production version is made on our factory floor, is not signed or dated, and doesn't include any bonus material.

Yes. That's fairly common knowledge.

Are there any more custom shop models or limited runs that will end up as production models? Paying a premium for something that ends up as a regular production model can sting the wallet a little.

There are no plans to move any other custom shop pickups to the production line at this time. The Alpha and Omega set is becoming a production model due to demand, especially for seven and eight string variants which were not offered in the Custom Shop run.

Any one who purchased one of the original Custom Shop sets got a very special pair of pickups, and some exclusive promotional material that won't be available in the production version.

Re: what about the question of Seymour Duncan's name not on new release pickups?

Would an Invader with standard (the normal huge ones) black hex-poles but with a trembucker spacing and black seymour logo be considered a shop-floor custom?
If so can you give a ballpark estimate on the upcharge,,,,,or the total price?
Who would be able to place that order for me?
In other words just like the synyster gates model but with no chrome,,,,,and a black normal duncan logo.

Actually if the black logo made it cost much more I'd just stay standard on that. I forgot how small the logo is on those anyways.

So just a Synyster bridge with black hex-heads!
(for the bridge of a tung-oiled full-maple w/ebony Carvin st300fr)

Would it be cheaper to just order the Synyster bridge and change the heads to black myself? Any suggestions anyone?

I don't believe that a TB-8 is offered because it isn't really needed. The hex caps offer such a huge magnetic field that a TB would just be overkill.

Re: what about the question of Seymour Duncan's name not on new release pickups?

Johnny the Kid is right that we don't make the regular Invader in Trembucker spacing because the poles are so large they expand the magnetic field, but if you still want a Trembucker version it would be do-able as a Shop Floor Custom, your local Duncan dealer can get you a quote!

TB-8?

I only play six-strings if that's what you mean. (lol,,,,sorry Johnny I get what you mean now,,,,,sh8)
The Synyster Gates Invader is a trembucker spaced pickup I always thought,,,,,,,,,but maybe I'm indeed mistaken.

The Synyster Gates version of the Invader is indeed a trembucker spaced pickup, per his request.

Cool, hadn't noticed.

I actually like the "S" bobbin design, very clean.

Re: what about the question of Seymour Duncan's name not on new release pickups?

I just looked and it seems they've removed his sig-set with the wider spacing and the chrome-caps from the website.

Looks like custom is the only option for the wider spacing.

Does SD themselves say it's not really needed in trembucker-spacing since it has the huge caps?

Hoping Riley can check on that one for me.

Yes, that's my understanding of it.

Yes. Riley confirmed it a few posts above.

Re: what about the question of Seymour Duncan's name not on new release pickups?

There are indeed TB-8 pickups out there. I have a Schecter special run guitar that came with a white with black poles TB-8. Presumably a shop floor custom run that Schecter had made for that run of guitars. It was not a Synyster Gates guitar or pickup.

Speaking of Synyster, I read on another forum that he left Duncan and is now working with Schecter for his pickups.
