What actually is "goosing" and where the heck did that term come from?

^^
When dealing with amps, I think that the resulting emission of a loud "whoop" is what it's referring to.

Given the pitch of said "whoop", vs an overall, more balanced increase in level of boosting the front of an amp, I'd disagree.

Everybody wants to be the cool guy who comes up with an entirely new word for something that has been done for decades and has always been known by the same common word, but really you end up leaving a trail of floating question marks and puzzled looks.
Boosting. Everyone understands boosting in terms of amps. We don't need to add or adapt other -ings to it. Boosting works just fine as it is. Slamming is similar in concept, but generally denotes a higher-intensity boosting than plain old vanilla boosting. Hammering skirts the boundary and has been used for both low-intensity and high-intensity boosting.

We don't need to add piledriving, ramrodding, fuel-injecting, dooshing, babaganooshing, babadooshing, turbo-charging, rocket-powering, juicing, and goosing.

Re: What actually is "goosing" and where the heck did that term come from?

pretty much.

Or maybe just to stir the pot we should all get together and come up with some random word and start spreading it around other forums as much as possible and see if we can't squeeze it into the vernacular and have a laugh when we see other people using it. How about starting threads like this all over the net "whats the best overdrive for fisting my mesa dual roadster"?
Ok...so maybe not "fisting" but im sure we can come up with some new word here on the SD forum.

Re: What actually is "goosing" and where the heck did that term come from?

Just for that I think I'll start using the term "goosing".

No, definitely not "fisting". For myself, that would be the term for what you do to your amp when it dies on you in the middle of a gig.

That sir would be a "donkey punch", the answer we were looking for was "donkey punch"...spin the wheel again.

How can a donkey punch when it can't make a fist.

No. And from what I've heard of them, I haven't missed anything.

Oh, & killing themselves by skiing stupid drunk into old growth Bull Pines & riding their sleds stupid drunk into Birch trees!!! But please, by all means keep it up! It's fun as hell to watch & I love being able to pick up your $12,000 sleds for $400-$600 after Fish & Game impounds & auctions them off!!! Where do you think I got the two I have now???

Got chased around by a duck when I was a teenager. It was my friends mothers pet, so I couldn't kick it. I don't have any lingering Ornithophobia.
