What amp are you playing today?

I am running two amps simultaneously these days. A Hughes & Kettner GrandMeister Deluxe 40 through a 2x12 loaded with Eminence Cannabis Rex speakers and a Traynor YCV50 Blue with the EL34 tubes swapped out for KT77s. The Traynor is also loaded with a Cannabis Rex 12.

I've been able to achieve solid tone on a lot of amps over the years, but the combination of the H&KGMD40 (EL84 tubes) with this old Traynor together is by far my favorite tone I've ever achieved. It's so versatile.

A big shoutout to the Radial Bigshot ABY pedal for being so effing sweet.

However, the Traynor has some miles on her. I am actually looking for someone who can turn it into a separate head and 1×12 cab wrapped in the blue snakeskin tolex that I love (including wrapping the head in the blue snakeskin).

How do they compare to the Soldanos in the Axe?
Actually, fairly close. I did that same experiment with the X88 and Fish models out of curiosity. There is a difference in feel, and how the controls adjust sounds. The sound, can be dialed nearly identical (+ or - a small percetage), but a player can tell, and a listener can not. Very interesting stuff. I got the AX-FX for strictly effects and midi, but it is fun to play with. It's far better than expected going head to head with the real things.

Good to know. I'll will experiment with them in my FM3.

Yeah, that purple looks fantastic in the sun. I eventually sold mine as I bought a Music Man Silhouette Special that covers the same ground, and has a neck profile that I like a lot better.
