What amp for country?

Re: What amp for country?

I have a Mesa Nomad 55 with 4 10" Jensens that sounds killer on clean country picking; like a pre CBS Super Reverb on steroids.

A Vibrolux and a Telecaster. Thats all you will ever need! :)

I was just looking at some Vibrolux's on eBay. They look nice, and don't seem to be outrageously expensive. :)

Re: What amp for country?

well none of you have ever heard of the amp would chose, but i have a 10w boutique amp called the "Weeping Widow" and it has a single channel that has a clean like an old fender but when the dirt is added it sounds slightly more like a marshall than a fender despite having a jj 6L6 power amp valve, i would chose this over almost any amp for classic rock and for its lovely twang with a tele thats just great for country, i dont have a tele but i used one through it with a bottle of budweiser to play slide guitar and i was really impressed, partly the reason i had one made for myself :) and it only cost me £250(which is cheap for a valve amp in the uk), though expensive for an amp with only 10w and no effects loop, but all the low watt boutique type amps seem to be the same, only more expensive.

Re: What amp for country?

Vox AC-30, Rivera Hundred Duo 12, Twin Reverb, Hot Rod Deville, all popular and very effective with a tele.

Re: What amp for country?

It's hard to go wrong with any of these:

Dr. Zs (best amps around for the money, honestly)
Peavey Classic series amps
Fender SF Twin (cheaper than the BF and have more headroom)
Matchless (God-like cleans, but you pay for it bigtime)
