What amp for this kinda tone?

My JCM2000 DSL is a GREAT amp, I love it.. But it seems a bit dark to me, I have to get this kind of bright tone for a long time but I just cant.

And when I am buying my Les Paul, I can afford JCM800 2203 as well, so I could run stereo.

You can hear the tone I like alot at about 2:00 and forwards in this clip

Re: What amp for this kinda tone?

I would say this might not be a JCM800, but an early JMP alas Randy Rhoads, and it probably pushed with either MXR dist+ or DS-1. But it is an unforgiving game to guess studio recorded gear. Love the song and the tone, but never wondered what it is, just shooting from the hip here.

Re: What amp for this kinda tone?

I must admit that I like his tone alot more here than on the final version

I think Vivian only used 2203s with dio and a Boss DS-1 or SD-1..?

Re: What amp for this kinda tone?

Well, 2203s can sound pretty bright, so that's a good start. The stock marshall G12T75 speakers are a great choice if brightness is your thing...

Re: What amp for this kinda tone?

Cool.

I dunno if its my speakers? I have 100watt celestions in my cab.. I think they are called G12H100?

Re: What amp for this kinda tone?

Vivian always had a real bright tone to me. Just throw a JB in your Les Paul, crank the presence on a JCM 800, and throw distortion pedal in front of it. You'll be close.

Re: What amp for this kinda tone?

He and Neal Schon that is.;)

Dont forget Viv... His first lead was no good, but the one that started with the double stop, the second one pretty much owned all the previous solos.

But yeahs I am gonna get a JCM800 and crank it.

Btw how you liking your JVM so far Jollene?
