What amps do you guys currently own?

I played one in a store back in the 90s

It made everything sound good
The store had no interest in selling it

It sold too many guitars

If I had a smoking amp in a music store I would be hesitant to let it go. One great amp can move many guitars.

I have been dying to try that amp. I have only heard great things.

Blackface Fender so it looks sharp.
2 6l6 4 12ax7 1 5a something rectifier
30 watts class a tube rectified
50 watts class ab tube rectified
60 watt ss rectified.

Gain 2 knob acts compressor like. Its a good knob

Some say it was to compete with a Dual Rec. If that is the case I say its better. All sorts of gain with more mid snarl.
The clean is a bit darker than "the Fender" clean but sparkles up on ss rectifier.
The clean and drive channel share eq. Some may not like that.

Its my favorite. If faced with the choice it'd be the one I'd keep. It has a roar and grind to it that I just love.

where did you pick that Prosonic up at?
Harris down in Pcola?

it may be the same one I Played

No way I could afford the Ehdwuld signature series.
I got it in Cowtown ( Calgary ) back in 1997. I was visiting my brother for the weekend and after a night out seeing a couple of good bands play I figured I'd spend some money so I dropped by Long and McQuade on the way out of town and tried it out.
I tried a couple of Marshalls, probably the dsl or tsl and a Jcm, a Hughes and Kettner, probably the first tri amp model and the Prosonic.
Prosonic won.

Current list is-
PRS first gen Archon 50 head
PRS Custom 50 head
PRS Sonsera 20 combo
Mesa Boogie F 30 combo
Zinky Blue Velvet 25 watt combo
Jet City JCA22H head.
Cabs
PRS 2/12 deep
Blackstar oversized 1/12
Mesa 1/12 wide body open back

yep. the prosonic and the tube tonemaster heads are the best high gain fenders ive played

Agreed on the Prosonic and Tonemaster. The Tone Master was a real killer but was designed for the bid stages by Bruce Zinky and is a hard amp to use because it really has to be cranked to sound right. I have owned a number of Prosonics both the heads and the combos including this Red one off Prosonic built with a Tonemaster power section. Bruce built it and gave it to Brad Whitford of Aerosmith, I bought it from Brad.
The Head is voiced slightly differently than the combo, according to Bruce.Really cool amps.

Here is more on the Red amp, it was the only 100 watt Prosonic built, and the only head built with Reverb. Open back shot and with 2 of my other Prosonics.

a buddy of mine had a tonemaster head, it was loud as hell but sounded great. he eventually ran it through some old celestions that were pretty inefficient which helped keep the volume down. you still have big red?

Was the red some sort of special edition? I remember red and blue Deluxes from about 15 years ago...

Princeton '65 RI with a 12" Jensen C12Q, Marshall JCM 800 50w combo single channel 1x12 with Celestion V30, Fender Eighty Five (transistor)

yep, thats the most common prosonic. it kicks ass. classic fendery clean channel and a gain channel that is very tweakable.

One off handbuild by Bruce Zinky. The only 100 watt Prosonic and the only head built with Reverb. Had a big accutronic tank bolted to the back screen. Still had the Property of Aerosmith inventory tag on it when I sold it. Would have never sold that amp but got sideways with a political group here, and they tried to destroy us. I was in an elected position in Birmingham and was seen as being in their way. Sold off a bunch of gear that can never be replaced but saved my house, and we survived, that was more important than the gear!

Agree. Bruce wanted them to be a 1/12, but Fender was dead set on the 2/10. Bruce built a few in the Custom shop with a 1/12 though.and both sound very good. The SN will tell you if it is a production or Custom ship amp. The production prefix for the regular production amps will be CR for Corona, the Custom shop will be LO for Lake Obregón. Have had both and could tell no difference in the way they sounded.

What's so special about the Fender Prosonic? Is the 2x10 combo any good?

Bruce Zinky is what was special and everything he did at Fender was spectacular. The Tone Master, Vibro King, Prosonic, Pro Jr, Dual Professional Custom Vibrolux, and others. His Zinky amps were also killer I own a 25 watt Blue Velvet that is signed.
