What amps have great cleans and take very well to distortion/OD pedals?

That's the question. Really, that's it. Looking for tube amps only.

The Deluxe reverb reissue is supposed to be one. Any others?

Thanks

My '68 fender showman reverb has great cleans and does very well with my modded boss BD-2 in front of it.

My twin albeit finnicky about the overdrive you feed it with makes pedals sound huge. I have a friend that uses one of the Fender Hot rod amps (deville I believe) and he gets some wicked tones using dirtboxes with that.

old Bassman heads, high-watt tube amps...depends on the amp and pedals.

the Mesa Blue Angel- it doesn't have a master volume- I have the 1x12...loves tube screames and the bad monkey.

Dr. Z! All of the Dr. Z models will do what your wanting. Fender is also a good choice.

I posted a link in the tips and clips forum of Frank Gambale on an Roland EC-120. It's famous as a jazz amp so the cleans should be expected to be pretty good. Surprisingly enough it's a solid state! He uses a pedal to kick it up a notch. Check it out!

Perhaps you mean JC-120? Most Roland equipment sounds best going through JC-120, and that clip said it was for the GP20-amp factory.

Or if you want something a little cheaper (at least it is here in the UK), get a Laney GH50L or GH100L and put some 6L6s in it.

best clean sound i own is a Peavey C50 head into a small Marshall 1x12 cab that has a 150watt speaker in it... huge balls! Beats my 65 Deluxe for clean tones!

You are kidding, right? A Classic 50 should be much more mid-rangey than a 65 Deluxe! I would think the deluxe would be way better!

Yes, he means JC-120. If you watch the video, look at the bottom right of the video. It says he's playing through a JC-120.
