What are some good dimarzios?

Re: What are some good dimarzios?

Another vote for Tone Zone as a great sounding pickup. Super Distortion is a classic sound as well - big full and round. Liquifire is a killer neck pickup.

Re: What are some good dimarzios?

One would be hard pressed to find a more musical sounding humbucker anywhere or from anybody.

Just to reiterate, I totally agree with this statement

I also want to revise my original statement because I tuned that guitar down two steps(c standard), and it really opened it up a lot!

Re: What are some good dimarzios?

The defunct vhpaf was one of my favorite bridge pickups in my green strat. It was standard spaced and double cream (strat is green with white pickguard) otherwise it would have stayed.

I like the feel of dimarzio pickups for certain kinds of playing - they don't have the immediacy of some other pickups which is excellent for soloing and the like.

The Virtual Hot PAF is really nice , I`ve got one a in a alder super strat. At the moment there`s two of them brand new on ebay fspaced

Re: What are some good dimarzios?

The Tone Zone has been mentioned a lot, but I really like the Air Zone the most probably. It's not a stretch from the Tone Zone, just an airier quality. It's rich and harmonic like the Tone Zone but also offers better cleans. The Breed seems like an extreme pickup if you go by Dimarzio's EQ but it's a really versatile pickup. The Breed is brighter than you would think but not harsh. Everything they make is good. They have some of the best mini humbuckers around, but you don't hear about them much.

Re: What are some good dimarzios?

I also picked up one of the newer SD black winters. I have heard its a great pickup.

Metal for life!!

Re: What are some good dimarzios?

The Liquifire is one of my favorite pickups! Awesome cleans and takes gain extremely well. I pair it with a Screamin Demon in Basswood.

Re: What are some good dimarzios?

Faves are the Humbucker From Hell in the neck, ToneZone in the bridge... Superdistortion for straight ahead rock.

I've got a Megadrive here too. That's an interesting pickup. Great for dirt. Wasn't a fan of the FastTrack2.

Sounds like I'd like to try an AirZone.

Re: What are some good dimarzios?

The Tone Zones are really good IMO; I've also had the Mark Morton Dominion set and it kicked @$$, ( I sold the guitar they were in, but loved em while I had it)

The 36th anniversary PAF's are really good too.

Re: What are some good dimarzios?

Its good to hear so many still using the Tone Zone. I thought I was the only one who still thought it was great. I like the Paf Pro with it better than the Air Norton. The Air Norton is too smooth and warm. I also really like the Breed set in an Ibanez RG. I use to use the Virtual Hot Paf a lot in HHS strats.

Re: What are some good dimarzios?

I like several pickups in their line up. The Area 67, the mini humbuckers and the Chopper T are my favorites.
