What are some of the best 7 string pickups available

Just as the title says, I've heard a lot about the EMG 707 but that's really all i've heard in reguards to 7 strings.

I havn't really heard ANYTHING at all (Except for one dimarzio) about singlecoils for 7 strings ether.

Anyone wanna give some ideas about some really good metal pus?

active/sc/hb/passive/whatever

Re: What are some of the best 7 string pickups available

active 7 pups: duncan blackouts, most people prefer them to any EMG

passive 7 bridge: depens on what you want and what guitar you put it in but the DMz Evo-7 is probably one of the most widely used ones

passive 7 neck: air norton 7 is the clear winner here. Most people that tried one love it.

SC: no idea

every threadd ever asking about AN has yielded positive results here, i've been extremely curious about the X2N7 however.

I love my CS PATB 7 string ,But i am going to try a Q tuners High Z /...It's expensive but worth the try

BareKnuckles Miracle Man is a great PU...
If tightness is not your priority ,Nailbomb and Coldsweat ,even Holy divers are great!

The X2N 7 sounds awesome..But lifeless.More for technical music!

Re: What are some of the best 7 string pickups available

I was thinking of trying a jazz bridge 7 string (i know it would have to be custom wound though) because ive wanted to try one for awhile and figured why not just get a 7 string one

Re: What are some of the best 7 string pickups available

i didn't like the JB-7 in basswood.

I tried a 6 string invader and wasn't really happy with the results, kinda curious to see how this will turn out

Re: What are some of the best 7 string pickups available

7 string guitars are not just 6 string guitars with an extra string...Most 7 string guitars tend to react different.Even the same low E sounds more bassy ...or more full sounding!
The 7 string versions of the 6 string PUs are not the same either...
Like X2N or EVO...7 string versions are totally different...

I would like to tell you 1 thing tho
Choose one of the 2 possiblilities.
1)Moderate output ,hex screws and Alnico V/VIII
2)High output and Cermic...

JB 7 is not helping a Basswood body 7...Maybe a whole maple guitar...

what would you say for a B;swamp ash/N:wenge/F:cocobolo guitar.

ive been wanting to try bareknuckles but im not really sure exactly what to go for, I wasthinking of shooting them an email though to see what they thought I should use though.

Re: What are some of the best 7 string pickups available

Swamp Ash is the best choice for 7/8 stringed guitars...Wenge is a great choice...Your tone is going to be really well balanced..So Miracle Man won't fit the Bill...

I would say ,try a Custom 7...
Or look at Q Tuners...

I was thinking of maybe using korina instead because i love the tone of mahogany (i was gonna go mahogany originally but i figured it would be too muddy with a dropped Ab tuning) but everyne is teling me i made the right choice with the swamp ash so im gonna stick with it i think.

you reckon a custom 7.jazz7 might be the way to go?

Re: What are some of the best 7 string pickups available

i have a seven string made of magohony, and it sounds much better clean and jazzy than it does for balls out rock. but with the whole single coil thing, i know schecter makes some 7's with neck singles, and they sound pretty good. i need to get new pickups in mine though, these duncan designed ones arent cutting it. like some of the other posts said, too muddy with the magohony

thats why i figured go swamp ash for having the guitar in dropped Ab tuning ;)

Re: What are some of the best 7 string pickups available

alsoi im not sure if i asked this or not and whether it was answered anywhere else but can you get 7 string passives with gold covers

Re: What are some of the best 7 string pickups available

Well the Jazz 7 can be really great..I thing it can ripp 'cos it has lotts of dynamic and punch...
But metal needs definition ,and 7 string guitars need it more than anything else ,so i wouldn't go the Jazz route...But it may work ,since Swamp Ash has enough definition!

im really curious to see if a jazz bridge would work for a 7 string since ive heard (i think it was jolly) and others praise it over and over. I doubt anyone has tried it since it would be a custom shop model anyways so i wouldnt know unless i ordered a custom pickup and if i didn't like it i would be kinda screwed.

Re: What are some of the best 7 string pickups available

I have a Dimarzio Breed OEM that came out of a top of the line Ibanez. Let me know if you want it?

Dude, I'm curious about this. My suspicion is that would be a little bit fuzzy on the lower end- works great for me I think cuz I like playing in e-standard on a 6. If it didn't work as a bridge pickup it would probably make an insane neck pickup.

What's it sound like? from what i've heard of the normal breeds i havn't really cared much for them.
