what are the advantages of a string through body ?

long story short, im thinking about replacing my epi lp.
i may want to get a schecter, although ive never heard much or read much about these guitars. Obviously, im going to try them out first, but i think i have my choices down to these 2 models.

so, does anyone have any experiences with these guitars ? and like the title says, whats the advantages of a string through guitar ?

String thrus have more sustain than TOM/stop or Trem bridges, and waaaay more than Floyd trems. Can't go wrong with Schecter- great quality for little $!

string thru bodied guitars are supposed to have more sustain, but a trem can suck that away from them.

I think tonepros and through-body would be most excellent. I have the same setup, albeit non-tonepros, on my Ibanez SZ and that thing has huge sustain compared to my tremelo-equipped guitars. They're all made in Korea guitars, which pretty much means they're all made in the same factory - whether they're schecter or ibanez so I think you should be pretty happy if you pick up a good one.

I hate these type of generalizations. In pure theory, yes.

But in the real world (ours), sustain is the result of many factors, such as wood (and its quality), neck angle, scale length, God´s mood at the time of construction.....

I can show you an axe with a floating Floyd that will out-sustain most if not all of the Les Pauls I´ve heard
