what are the fastest guitar picks?

Re: what are the fastest guitar picks?

A teardrop or jazz style agate pick by Picksandstones is as fast as a pick may ever be due to the glassy smooth surface. Those things jump from string to string with a smooth attack.

I have always liked delrin, Dunlop 1.5 mm...just the right balance of highs, lows and clarity. I read, many years after adopting them myself, that they are the same picks Yngwie uses.

Re: what are the fastest guitar picks?

i guess the fastest pick depends on the player.... as long as the player gets along with a type of pick then it's the fastest for him or her

I use Dunlop 73mm, the tortex yellow ones. They are perfect for me. Not too thick, not too thin.

werd - I was gonna say whatever Yngwie is holdin'....and I don't think it matters

And I like those yellow guys Holydiver!

Nothing can beat a super heavy Tortex pick. It doesn't matter if it is an x heavy jazz or regular size Tortex. The extra heavy Clayton picks are very good to. The pick edge is not as rounded as a Tortex, so you can dig is very sharply with those.

Re: what are the fastest guitar picks?

to me .73 tortex are thefastest picks, i can't play anything other than that now

Re: what are the fastest guitar picks?

Ain't no pick in the world gonna make ME faster. For me it's all about not dropping the **** thing. Fender-style heavy with my name on them, white so I can find them on the stage floor. I bought a gross in about 1980, and I don't think I'll ever use them up.

Dunlop purple 73mm . Just takes a little getting used to cause it tends to get a might slippery when wet ,, no pun intended,, but I'll let it slide

I wanted to LOL but my girlfriend is sleeping so... *mental chuckle*

So true. Figure out what kind of thickness you like - thinner ones will not be as good for speed picking obviously - and then figure out what kind of material you can best hold on to. You can't play quickly if the pick is slippery and you have to keep adjusting your hold on it.

Re: what are the fastest guitar picks?

I can get my picks going pretty fast using a rubber band, but I think a sling-shot is faster.

Re: what are the fastest guitar picks?

It's not the pick.

Practice, technique, practice, technique, practice, PRACTICE TECHNIQUE!

Didn't Billy Gibbons use a steel pick? Hmm, his choice was about tone not speed (even though I don't imagine any other kind of pick could give LESS resistance than polished stainless steel)
