what are the hottest pickups?

Re: what are the hottest pickups?

if you want lots of scream in your pinch harmonics, then i hate to say it but i would go with some EMG's. Zakk wylde has some sick pinch harmonics.

Get a better amp! There is no way around it!!! You will not be fully satisfied until you do IMO!

Myself, I got crap pinch harmonics out of EMG's! The Invader got them better than anything I have ever played. This is just me though!

This might be more a matter of EQ instead of just output. I can't believe I'm writing this, but the JB is probably what you want for this. It's loud with a lot cut, and makes harmonics screem. From Dimarzio, the Evolution is very loud with a lot of cut. You can probably get these both at Guitar Center too.

PS... Not be a smart alec but they will also have Marshalls. I think these guys have a point about the importance of the amp......

to each his own, I myself am not an EMG fan by no means, not for my taste of music. I actually have an Invader on one of my guitars, which i just made a thread about how i have fallen out of touch with it.

Re: what are the hottest pickups?

The evolution sounds like it. Tons of harmonics that are very controllable, pinch harmonics are easy. Also has the "dual resonance technology" which I think means its not entirely wax potted, just enough to not squeel, but is fairly easy to control feedback with. As someone else said it is very tight and cuts well. I just installed one last week and I'm having tons of fun with it, though I recommend it for a darker sounding setup because it is rather bright. If you play a bright sounding rig the EVO2 is supposed to be the same but with a little bit less output and tamed highs.

Re: what are the hottest pickups?

I think the Warpig is pretty up there as far as not only being hot but sounding hot. It also looks nuts.

I've really been considering one for my ibanez, but that's all I've got for EVH stuff now, so maybe not.

The Invader is not my favorite by any means but, the Harmonics are just plain sick for me!

Re: what are the hottest pickups?

another vote for the Evo here. Pretty hot in output and probably the biggest harmonic range of any pup i've tried so far. if you want real scream go for one.

Re: what are the hottest pickups?

thanks alot guys.

i think ill go with an invader .

if they have an evo though ill have to think about it.

are they that different from each other?

They are worlds different from each other! Nearly opposite ends of the spectrum!

Re: what are the hottest pickups?

Evo and 707 hit amps hardest for me.

the Duncan live wires heavy metal is hotter!

Yep....it's the only pickup I've ever heard that would feedback on a clean channel...lol.

Re: what are the hottest pickups?

According to Scott Miller´s (of Duncan) post a few weeks ago in an identically titled topic, the output scale is as follows:

Invader >PATB-2> Distortion

Livewire HMs will fof course blow any passive away.

But if you want Pinch harmonics, go for the distortion ;)
