What are you guys going to pair with the brobucker?

I think I'm going to put the Brobucker in my Hamer Special FM paired with a Seth at the neck. Anyone else have plans for it already?

Re: What are you guys going to pair with the brobucker?

i still haven't decided what guitar to put it in. it may go in my SG-X all alone since it has no neck pickup and it will be coil split also if it goes in there. or it may go in my les paul standard with a double cream jazz that's in the neck now. or i may try it in one of my charvel clones which has an alder body, maple neck 1 pickup 1 volume knob.

still trying to decide.

Re: What are you guys going to pair with the brobucker?

It is going in my PRS McCarty and i have a couple pickups laying around that i will tryout with it. The 1st neck pickup i'll try with it is the PATB1 if i dont like that then i'll try out a '59... if i don't like that then i'll try it in my Spirit which only has a bridge pickup.

Re: What are you guys going to pair with the brobucker?

Pair it with nothing, put it at the bridge with nothing else for now, until I get some other guitar to put it in.

Re: What are you guys going to pair with the brobucker?

I think it is going to wind up in a 1972 LP Deluxe, replacing a JB and matching up with the original mini humbucker which I think sounds incredible. I know some people don't like them but play with the volume and tone knobs, and they sound great.

Re: What are you guys going to pair with the brobucker?

Probably a stand alone pickup in an older Ibanez Roadstar circa 1985/1986.

Re: What are you guys going to pair with the brobucker?

Mine is going into a Les Paul and will be paired up with a pickup I made that reads at 7.5K

Re: What are you guys going to pair with the brobucker?

Not sure where this pickup will end up? Probably on my spare pearl white pickguard for my blue strat....Either that or in the spot where a Dimarzio VPAF Hot will either stay or not stay in my Gibson SG's bridge position....

The 59B/Custom A2 Hybrid I have in my Love Rock stays though!
As does the Jazz/59N A4 I have in the neck of this same guitar! ;o)

After that this Brobucker is saved for a future project? I know I'll find a place for it at some point.

APH-1....There is no substitute. The "brobucker" going in the bridge of my 03' Les Paul Standard.

OK, so we're not that far off from each other. Rock on.:laugh2:

Re: What are you guys going to pair with the brobucker?

I'm going to pair it with a '59 in one of my Pauls.

Re: What are you guys going to pair with the brobucker?

It will be paired with an Alnico 2 Pro in the neck. The guitar it's going in is a secret. You will see it soon enough ;)

Re: What are you guys going to pair with the brobucker?

my lost likely guitar is a '99 Hamer Studio:

it has the stock '59 neck and JB bridge. Hamer has since switched to a '59 set. I asked them why they switched, and they said it was to meet players' changing tastes.
anyway, I was going to try a '59 bridge, but I think the BrotherBucker might work a little better, since it's right in between a '59 and JB.

Re: What are you guys going to pair with the brobucker?

BB1 in my R8..which is similar in output to the APro...but is an uneven wind.

Re: What are you guys going to pair with the brobucker?

I want to get in on the "Brobucker 96" action but not sure if I would put it in my Yamaha 620 in the bridge since I think I would still need to change the neck to a Jazz or Pearly - which would match better (mahogany, semi-hollow LP type body)? Also, are the choices DC, zebra, or nickle? 620 has black pups now...

Other option is drop it in my Strat but not sure how it would blend with my Tx Specials - and we dont have enough orders for trem-spaced yet, right? Maybe I could put a normal-spaced in a single hum config, hmm.. Decisions, decisions - this peer pressure is rough! :laugh2:

I suspect the Brobucker will work much better. Tonally your Hamer and mine are very similar, and the 59 lacks alot of midrange and "punch" for a bridge pup..regardless of music style. I think Hamer would be better off putting Seths in their guitars these days.

well, my Hamer Artist has stock Seths in it ...
the Studio sounds fine with the '59/ JB combo, but it does like to be cranked :)

Your Studio is identical to my Special (sans arch top) that I will be putting the Brobucker in. Even the same finish. :laugh2:

Hamer puts Seths in the Artist series, except for the Artist Mahogany and Artist Korina. They put 59s in the certain models because they talked with Seymour Duncan and it was decided together what to put in there. This was explained to me by Jol Dantzig himself.
