What Are Your Favourite P-up Combinations?

I think we could make it easier for other people if we made a list of our personal favourites. We should give some details too: what we play with them, how we have them wired, what we like (or dislike) from them...

Think that I'll be posting here as soon as I get my new p-ups (in Febraury I hope).

Re: What Are Your Favourite P-up Combinations?

I like JB/Jazz, but I am currently really liking my DD/Jazz setup on my MIJ Jackson Dinky.

Re: What Are Your Favourite P-up Combinations?

In Les Pauls: Pearly Gates set or Seth Lover Set

In super Strats: Alnico II Pro humbucker/Custom Custom

In Strats: APS-2 set

In Semi hollows: Phat Cat set

In Teles: SM-1 in the neck and Jerry Donahue in the bridge.

Re: What Are Your Favourite P-up Combinations?

I actually have two...

1. STK-T3b/STK-S1n
2. APTL-3JD/APS-1 or 2 (depending on the fretboard radius)

Re: What Are Your Favourite P-up Combinations?

I have not decided on my favorite Strat set yet, but my favorite Gibson combo is Distortion/ Pearly Gates. I love the harmonix on the neck PG and the distortion in the bridge gets real dirty but cleans up real nice. You cant go wrong with the JB/Jazz either.

For "open and airy" . . . the neck QP, tapped, with the JB in my Genny.
For jazzy/blues, the neck 59 in my Patriot.

For good ole, grindy, generic, get-down, rock & roll, the 59/C5 combo in my Predator. ;)

Re: What Are Your Favourite P-up Combinations?

Jeff beck in the bridge with a dimarzio evolution in the neck.
for bluesy hendrix stuff the same but with a Duckbucker in the neck

Re: What Are Your Favourite P-up Combinations?

Here's my favourite pup setups: (Bridge-->Neck)

In Les Pauls: Seth/Seth or Screamin' Demon/PG

In Strats: Antiquity Texas Hots (with Custom Bridge) or JB Jr/Quarter Pound/Lil 59

I'm looking to have a nice Tele soon, so hopefully this thread will give me some idea of pups to go in it ;)

Re: What Are Your Favourite P-up Combinations?

I have a favorite which it is a StagMag set (split) neck and bridge. I currently have them on a SG type of guitar (Guild S-100) and they sound great, but the neck and frets of this guitar doesn't allow me to play in that way I really would like. So I think I am moving them to my 25'5 scale homade, all mahogany...

I love the Gretch filtertones too althought they arent so vesatile...

Re: What Are Your Favourite P-up Combinations?

I've been led to the idea of a triple JB attack from a certain forum member and I quite like the idea.

That being said, I haven't actually tried it.

Re: What Are Your Favourite P-up Combinations?

The best pickup combination I have ever played is the Seth Lover set in my Les Paul Standard.

They're single-conductor, so no fancy wiring. They are awesome for classic 70s rock (e.g. Zep, Lizzy AC/DC), 60s Bluesbreakers (e.g. Clapton, Green, Taylor) and also for cleaner jazz and blues tones.

Thank you Seth. Thank you Seymour. :yourock:

Some of my favorites:
1) PAF Pro Neck/SH-13 Dimebucker bridge:in an Ibanez RG620QM, 3-way selector with both humbuckers split when in middle position.
2) Air Norton neck/Tone Zone bridge:in an Ibanez RGT3020QM with 5-way to use the neck in parallel as well as in series. This is Patrick Rondat's main axe.
3) The EVO set in my JEM.
4) The SH-5 Custom neck/SSL-6 middle/TB5 Custom bridge: in a Vigier Excalibur with FR, might sound a strange combination with a Custom in the neck, but check out the sound samples on: www.youridegroote.com and you ll see why i like this combo:very versatile and great sounding.
Lots of other great combos out there in my opinion, shame i can't own them all :)
