What are your thoughts on the Metal Zone

Not sure how to answer, it doesn't do anything I like, and there are way better high gain pedals (IMHO, YMMV, etc...).
 
I don't particularly like it. Even when used as a preamp, the high-end or high mids have this kinda plastic-y voicing to it that sounds so Metal Zone-y.

That being said, I love Slaughter of the Soul, and that pedal was part of that tone. Crowbar and Cannibal Corpse also use it as a boost, no?
 
When I was young and that came out, it was Metallica in a cheap pedal before the amps that do that were available to us poors. I've seen guys run that into a loop return on amps and use it as a preamp and it does that job fairly well there.

I'd say I like it more out of nostalgia than practicality.
 
I borrowed a MT2 back in the 90s and it was awesome

Roll on a few years and I wanted a used one for $20 , but never pulled the trigger

Yrs later during the shutdown, I got the Behringer knock off for $20

I'm happy. I don't really play that high gain type music . But I have it in the box if I decide to
