What can i do with these?

A few days ago i picked up these two rotary switches.

One is a 3 way and the other a 6 way.

There are 12 lugs on the outer circle, and 4 lugs on the inside.

Can i use these at all in a guitar such as a les paul??? I was thinking that the 6 way would come in handy with coil splitting and series/parallel switching....

Thanks if you can help :)

I would use the 6 way with 5 different caps as a kind of shelving control.

Re: What can i do with these?

I like Benjy's idea. The 4-way would make a nice rotary pup selector, with several different options on how to configure it.

Like, you could have bridge humbucker, neck & bridge (both split), neck. That type of thing.

Re: What can i do with these?

Hey, i'm going to bump this, because i cannot find any schematics for this particular type of rotary switch anywhere.....and i have no idea how i would wire it up! Would like to wire the 6 position switch up like this:

1. Neck humbucker
2. Neck split
3. 1 coil from neck, 1 from bridge, in parrallel
4. Neck + bridge humbucker in parrallel
5. 1 coil from neck, 1 from bridge in series
6. Bridge humbucker

Possible????

Re: What can i do with these?

Its probably possible. The problem is, I'm not sure how those lugs are arranged. 12 outside/4 inside doesn't really match up well with either a 3-pos or a 6-pos.

If you have a meter, you need to determine whether or not some of the 4 inner lugs are "dummies". On the 3-pos, one of the inners should be a dummy, and on the 6-pos, two of the inners would be dummies.

Re: What can i do with these?

Yeah, i have a multimeter. If you could show me how to do this, i'd be more than willing to test the switch.
