I dunno how many times I've done this, but what the hell:

I'm going to get my 62RI routed for a swimming pool route so I can do an HSH setup. It will be slightly unusual in that it uses a LP style 3 way toggle switch, and a 3PDT mini switch that simultaneously taps the humbuckers and adds in the middle pickup. A great idea, if I do say so myself. All the ease of a toggle switch (I really don't like blade switches) with even more available pickup combinations than a 5 way.

Anyway, I can't really decide what look I want to go for. My guitar is olympic white, and I'm probably going to use a parchment pickguard. Here are the three mockups that I did that I like the most. Vote.

Option 1:

Option 2:

Option 3:

Yes, I realize option 3 is missing a switch. I think you all know what a switch looks like :cool2:

Re: What color scheme should I go for?

Option 1... I don't really like how there is an open single and the covered buckers. Looks off.

Re: What color scheme should I go for?

Option 1.
the middle pickup breaks up the continuity of the nickel covers on the other two.

Hmm, what about black uncovered neck, black middle, covered bridge?

+1. They should be covered or uncovered.

When you ask guys about coordinating colors and designing, remember how most men dress themselves.

Re: What color scheme should I go for?

Why wouldn't you route HSH? It's a AVRI after all.

I would also consider a mint green pickguard.

Re: What color scheme should I go for?

Option 1. Very Blackmore-esque, very cool.

Re: What color scheme should I go for?

i like option 1. all that white with the blond headstock makes the rosewood look really dark, and the black pups and knobs balances that out very nicely IMO.

MIJ 62 RI, not an AVRI.

Also, the only way I can get a HSH pickguard with no route for a lever switch without spending a fortune is Warmoth, and I don't like their mint green.

Hell yeah! I freaking love mine. I got it for a steal - $400 with upgraded tuners and pickups (Gotoh's and Bareknuckles, respectively) and the OHSC. One of those no brainer deals. I think that with a 59/C-SSL1-Demon combo, it will kick so much ass I won't be able to handle it.

Re: What color scheme should I go for?

Nice. I routed mine for a bridge humbucker, and now i've got two loaded pickugards for it. the one in there right now is the Rose buff beauty/robusta/robusta combo. The buff beauty (in the bridge position) is the hottest sounding single coil I've ever heard/played. If I roll down the tone knob just a bit, it sounds like a humbucker. Lots of output and fat sound to it. The robustas are like Fender's Fat 50s.

The other pickguard is JB8/JB jr./Hot Rails bridge.

both the JB jr. and HR bridge are wired in parallel. jb jr. sounds spanky/twangy, and the HRB in parallel is obviously a hot, super sizzling kinda almost single coil sound. sooo yummy.

what color shoes should i wear with this dress?
Will he fall in love with me if i wear the ones with the rhinestones on them or will he think i'm cheap?

Re: What color scheme should I go for?

I voted Option 2 because of the covers, but I would have preferred the cover off the bridge pick up, just like on my SG below. Option 1 actually does have that Blackmorish look to it. I should have voted that one.:grumble:

What color scheme should I go for?

Definitely option 1. But I must admit that I'm a Blackmore fan and that is rather reminiscent of his white Strats with black covers.
