What compares to a Jazzmaster Quarterpound?

Hello forum, new as I am! Looks like there´s more interesting to read here than I ever will...

Question that seems to haunt me:

The guitar of my choice is a Fender Jazzmaster, but now I want more, or do I? I´ve aquired a strat and a tele, and of course I´ve changed the pups. Sometimes I wounder why they put pups in new guitar for starters, the stock ones never measure up to my standards at least.

No matter how I twist and turn, I still want more. The by far best pup I own (or played) is my Seymour Duncan SJM-3 quarter-pound™ for jazzmaster.

WHAT CAN POSSIBLY COMPARE TO THAT IN STANDARD HUMBUCKER SIZE?

I have Quarterpound SC for Jaguar in my jag, but it´s not even close.

A few facts: I play heavily distorted, I play neck pup.

the QP in your jag sounds different because jags use 1 meg pots

switch out the pots (for 250k), and you'll get a more similar sound.

Other than that, I can't help you with QPs. I prefer low output in my Jags and JMs

Listening to the clips on the Duncan page the Jag sounds deeper and more defined. I like it more than the j-master clips.

I think that the QP for Jazzmaster, and I by accident have a bridge pup in neck position, is fantastic. I holds a very wide range of tonality, great bass as well as shiny trebles at least.

On my tele I now use a p94 in neck position, and it works, but not as transparent and nice as in my jazzmaster. Of course, there's a billion other differences, but still.

So I'm looking for something in HB-size to replace the p94, and yet another to put in my homebuilt strat. I live by the simple rule that single coil is what I need, and that the bigger the coil...

Is there any experience within this forum of single coils in HB-size?
