what could work as polish?

Re: what could work as polish?

No polish means its time to go shopping. Furnature polish can work but it often contains wax and will build up over time.

You can use various cleaners but they only clean, they do not polish.

Lemon Pledge

If you go to the auto parts store, Meguiler's makes some nice spray and polish, and spray and wax items

Re: what could work as polish?

according to 'Guitar Player Repair Guide', just a clean rag. And some elbow grease.

Re: what could work as polish?

Been using nothing but a premium with no cleaner grit pure Carnauba auto wax for years on my guitars.
I now use a product called Beats Um All that I found out about at the Birmingham World of Wheels a few years ago. All these guys were using it on their $25K custom car finishes so I figure it should work purty well on a guitar finish:naughty:,
My youngest guitar is a 99 oldest 67 and I have owned my LTD 88 Takamine since 88. All my guitars are kept pristine and are never EVER put away after a gig without a through clean and polish. Ask anybody that I have ever sold a guitar or amp to how well I keep my stuff:bling:!!

Do you want a polish in the industrial meaning of the word, aka abrasive? ScratchX or Virtuoso Cleaner.

If you want polish in the guitar sense (just dirt removal and some finish shine), then Gibson polish or Virtuoso Polish.

Um, was "toothpaste" a joke?

...sounds like a fast way to ruin your finish, not polish it...

I'd rather use nothing until I was able to get my hands on some guitar polish.

Re: what could work as polish?

I rarely polish a couple of my guitars and if it's real bad I just use a soft rag and elbow grease to get the prints and smudges off. Every once in a while I use guitar polish and I haven't bought a new bottle in years. The only one I polish regularly is my Martin D-28. The rest get played a lot and it shows.

In a pinch, Windex works great. Get some guitar polish when you can.

Re: what could work as polish?

the best stuff to use is non-silicone based guitar polish. it doesnt swirl like crazy and it doesnt build up over time.
