What delay pedal are you guys using?

Re: What delay pedal are you guys using?

Well.... i use an Echoplex a DL4 and a BYOC delay. Depends on the mood I am in!

Re: What delay pedal are you guys using?

I'm using the Line 6 DL4...love it!

Love it so much I sold Christian (the Guy Who Invented Fire) my old Echoplex...and HE'S loving that! LOL! Lew

Re: What delay pedal are you guys using?

I use a pair of Rocktron Short Timers. I wouldn't mind having a pair of the old Boss DM-2 or DM-3's but those are just stupid expensive these days.

I think new Boss digitals are more expensive than what they're worth, too. I wouldn't mind a DD-20, but my Short Timers get the job done for 1/4 the cost.

I have a lead on a used one, but have reservations about the reliability. Can you change settings on the fly without any change in volume? What do you think?

THe boss dd20 is appealing, but I like the idea of having a few delays on standby to hit. The boss website is pretty sparse on the capabilities of the dd20-can it loop? can settings be changed on the fly with no increase/decrease in level?

Sure! There's presets you can preset and then switch between and you can tap in a new delay time by just tapping the switch with your foot to set the delay time. It's a cool unit. Haven't gigged with mine, but my understanding is that the Line 6 stuff is very reliable. Lew

Re: What delay pedal are you guys using?

I'm using a Boss RV-3.

I wish I was using a Carl Martin Red Repeat, or that new Boss Echoplex Twin Pedal thing I keep hearing about...

Re: What delay pedal are you guys using?

I use a Boss DD-20, and I can't imaging ever wanting another delay pedal. It is awesome to use with my guitar/bass signal chains and with my DJ setup. My DigiTech DigiDelay is fun to use also, and the Boss has massive capabilities.

Re: What delay pedal are you guys using?

I use a Deluxe Memory Man and a Visual Sound H2O. Both cool, very analogue sounding delays.

Would love a space echo though.

Re: What delay pedal are you guys using?

I have 2 DD3's. I don't use a lot of delay, generally only in a clean setting. I would like to use some in the gain settings, but I find it hard to get the delay to not clip the notes I'm playing. The Decay of the note tends to get clipped by the repeat of the delay and it annoyss the crap out of me, so I turn it off. I don't think this is an issue with the DD3's I think its an issue for delay in general.

So...
1. Can you loop a rhythm track and solo over it? (for example)
2. Can you change the delays easily with your foot during a song-either the type of delay/echo, or the intensity?
3. Are there presets/are they easily accessed? Or, do you have to hold that high a in a 40 second vibrato while you're bent over fiddling with knobs until you get delay #2 dialed in?

Thanks,
Dave

Re: What delay pedal are you guys using?

Danelectro Dan-Echo (B2D's old pedal before he went Hollywood :)).

Good pedal, cheap but sounds good, built great, does what I want.

Re: What delay pedal are you guys using?

I use the DD-3 here. I mainly have it set to double or thicken the sound of my guitar.

I also use the infinite repeat setting for a cool continuous echo effect.

Yes! Although I haven't used the loop feature yet. You can set up three presets that are dramatically differant from each other if you wish and adjust the delay time on the fly by just tapping the on/off switch with your foot in time.

1) yes - you can. The DL-4 sampler is better than the DD-20 (I'll elaborate if you want)

2) you can change easily - you can also change the function of the footswitches to make that easier (which is awesome if you have a footswitch, you can make one pedal the on/off, one switches between preset/manual, and the external can be the tap tempo)

3) you can have 4 presets programmed in - if you use the manual setting as a preset, technically you could have 5 presets (but I keep the manual setting on the looper) If you use the manual setting as one of your presets, then you could switch back and forth between the manual and the preset really easily (i.e., if you want one delay for most of the song and a different one for the bridge)

The DD-20s display is good if you play with tracks; you can set your delay to the BPM setting instead of trying to tap it. Another thing I like over the DL-4 is the ability to tap the tempo before turning the delay on.

Re: What delay pedal are you guys using?

trex replica, the most natual sounding delay with a tap tempo that ive heard

Re: What delay pedal are you guys using?

I use a Boss DM-2 for short delays and an Ibanez DE-7 set to "tape echo" mode for longer delays. A buddy of mine is now distributing the T-Rex stuff in Australia, so I'm keen to check out the Replica for its "brown" setting.

Cheers.....................wahwah
