What delay pedals are you guys using?

Re: What delay pedals are you guys using?

I've tried LOTS of delay pedals, including most of the ones mentioned in this thread.

I own a TC Electronic Nova Repeater. Simple, versatile, sounds great, all the features I want, none of the features I don't.

I have heard that the guitar player from Coloured Animal doesn't even use a delay pedal, he stares time straight in the face and it ripples out of fear.

I have an EH Deluxe Memory Man that I inherited. I am not really into effects pedals, but it is pretty cool. Very pricey, though.

Re: What delay pedals are you guys using?

Just got in and checked my thread. Wow, thanks for all the suggestions folks. So far I'm thinking along the lines of the Carbon Copy, Flashback, AD9 or DE7. There a couple of stores in town that I can go with a shortlist now and try some out. If I'm honest I'd really like to try the Retrosonic but they are like rockinhorse dump over here, the Strymon pedals and Eventide are too pricey. Please keep the info coming though, the more the merrier!

Not only that, it ripples exactly once per quarter note and each ripple somehow loses a bit of treble and volume.

Scientists are completely baffled. CalTech currently has three physicists and one engineer assigned to the problem.

It's cool to see all the different delay's people use, for I'm looking to get one soon. I would like to get a De ja vu soon, but I'm going to make a Tonepad Rebote 2.5

Re: What delay pedals are you guys using?

I have a TC Flashback.
Chose it after listening to various delay demos on youtube.
I am very happy with it - I have it set up to repeat only after I stop playing.
I am considering buying another one.

Re: What delay pedals are you guys using?

EHX Memory Toy.

Pros: Classic thick analog delay, the chorus switch adds a gorgeous character to long repeats, very Pink Floydish.
It's also cheap and almost cartoonishly small. Love it.

Cons: The signal gets a boost when on. Not necessarily bad, but I wish that was an option and not mandatory. Useful for leads.

Some like the Carbon Copy better. Never tried it myself.

Re: What delay pedals are you guys using?

I use a carbon copy and I love it.

compared it with various others and in the end it came down to the cc and a mad professor delay and I went for the cc on the grounds of 1) slightly warmer sound - although the mad professor probably had a more accurate reproduction of the base sound it just didn´t sound as good to me, and 2) it was significantly cheaper.

If you don´t need lots of bells and whistles (eg. tap tempo, v. long digital delay times) it´s a fantastic pedal. A lot of others on here recommend it also.

I suggest they test the atmosphere for a Big Bada$$ Deluge.

Re: What delay pedals are you guys using?

I've got a Maxon AD-900, Retro-Sonic Analog Delay, a pair of old Boss DM-2s and an Ibanez DE-7. The AD-900 is my favourite of those, it has the original Panasonic BBD chips and has a beautiful glow to it, reminiscent of the original AD-80. The Retro-Sonic is closer to the sound of the DM-2, but with twice the available delay time. I still use the DE-7 as the second delay on my board for a set timing.

Cheers........................................ wahwah

Re: What delay pedals are you guys using?

I just got a digitech digital delay x series. I owned one before and sold it and bought it back.

I tried a lot of analog delays and just didn't like the way they sounded in a mix as much as the clearer digital sound. I think for your purposes I would suggest the carbon copy or memory toy. I like the toy a bit better but it's just an opinion.

I would recommend you not getting the ad-9. it sounds great but if you need anything more than a sudden slapback you're screwed.

Re: What delay pedals are you guys using?

TC Flashback...can't beat it for the size of it's footprint!

Re: What delay pedals are you guys using?

I use the EHX memory toy. It's very similar to the Carbon Copy. The CC has longer delay times and a better sounding MOD, right out of the box. The Memory Toy is better for shorter delays, it can do pretty long. Longer than I need. The Mod, right out of the box, sounds way too weird to use for anything practical. All it takes to change that is a very simple turn of a trim pot inside. There are 8 different trim pots back there, but the only one that should be messed with is the one that's labeled "Mod Depth". Once tamed down it's a really great sounding dimension to the delay, I leave it on always.
