WHAT DID I DO?...........OH NO!...........

Re: WHAT DID I DO?...........OH NO!...........

IMO a $55 rewind is not a bad deal; I've been meaning to send the above pickup in for a while now. I wouldn't trust an independent winder with replicating precise Duncan winds.

Re: WHAT DID I DO?...........OH NO!...........

Is it normal to be a little nervous about tampering with magnet wire so thin? I f I do this, I have to wait tomorrow when my family has gone to work........I do not need any distractions with this. Thanks for your input guys.

Re: WHAT DID I DO?...........OH NO!...........

The one I soldered (pretty sloppy/quick work as you can see) I used a hair dryer to soften the wax before pulling a wind or so off; then I just twisted the two ends together pretty tight (no need to bother stripping insulation,) and soldered, cutting off the excess (could have cut off more, but wanted to be conservative.) It's worth a shot.

Obviously I could have gone more in-depth, tightened up the excess slack better, re-melted some wax after the fact... But the pickup worked fine, wasn't microphonic etc.

Re: WHAT DID I DO?...........OH NO!...........

I am a huge Seymour Duncan fan and his' pickups are mostly what I use. I like his' and Maricela's work.

Re: WHAT DID I DO?...........OH NO!...........

Thinking I would eliminate any possibility of potential squealing if playing high gain. I blew it on this one.

With a pickup that wasn't designed to play that style? Yep... ya blew it alright!

Re: WHAT DID I DO?...........OH NO!...........

In hindsight.....yeah, I should have tried wax potting a different pickup.
