What do I have?

I bought a Duncan Distortion on E-bay as being an old one. It doesn't have the SD logo stamped on its back, instead, it has a little adesive saying "DD". Is it a real Duncan??? :smack:

Re: What do I have?

I would say yeah, it's probably a Duncan Distortion (real seymour duncan)

but it is possible that you have a duncan designed humbucker..

I thought DD=Duncan Designed... These are generally PU's that they have made for ceratin vendors or guitars...

Sorry, I hosed the original message.

Does it look like the pup in the left, center position? That is a very early Duncan Distortion. These were all made sometime before 1982. Info on the very early Duncans is sketchy. I'm trying to create a database of the early stuff with dates, pics and specs.

Old Distortion necks said "SEY" on the bottom.
Old Distortion bridges, did in fact say "DD".

Pre 2002 pickup ID

The very early Duncan stickers were marked differently from those in the link. Note 'The JB Model' and 'Duncan Custom' stickers in my pics. Initially at least, the Duncan Distortion pickups were not made specificially for the neck. Not sure when the 'SEY' neck Distortions came out as I don't have one. It just depends on how old Engel's pup is. As mentioned before, a pic is needed.

Tks a lot for your attention people! I'll get pictures tomorrow and post them ok? But I'm quite sure you've already cleared my mind about this!
